Why do people think that whomever wins that game will jump Michigan? The board made it pretty damn clear that Michigan is viewed as the next up and barely out of the top 4 right now. I hope Washington or Clemson loses so Michigan can get in to shut up the peolle who are so sure Michigan gets jumped. It's like they didn't listen to the comittee chair at all when he talked on Tuesday.

I think Wisconsin has a better chance of jumping Michigan. They lost to them by a TD whereas Penn St got destroyed.

Furthermore Washington should jump Ohio state

Every computer model has the pac 10 ahead of the big 10 and Washington won the conference and Ohio state didn't

Michigan has head to head wins over both plus a Top 12-15 win over Colorado. I dont see how PSU or Wisky go over Michigan.

Better than osu in a better conference

Are are beating the number 8 team in the country now and destroyed a big ten team

Clemson should be ahead of osu if Clemson wins as well

They won a better conference, they are better than teams that LOST a weaker conference.

In every way they are better

People think that because conference championships will factor into the final rankings. There are several situations just in this poll where head to head isn't the main factor. Florida St is ranked ahead of Louisville, and USC is ranked ahead of Stanford. It's pretty clear that head to head isn't always the deciding factor with the committee.

Conference champ is far down the criteria. He said it Tuesday night. The announcer was grilling him with questions and didn't like the fact that they said they would put Michigan in next, but the chair stood firm on the committee's opinion of who the best teams were and how there was a big drop off after michigan.

That an opinion... That certainly isn't an opinion that computers will use.

Big 10 beat up on each other and no one else. How does that make them better? Penn state couldn't beat Pitt who isn't in the top of the ACC...

Michigans best win was against that pen state team

Colorado (if they finish them off) Stanford, Utah, and WSU are 4 good wins.

These 4 wins are comparable to - Oklahoma (road beatdown), Nebraska (disgusting beatdown), Wisconsin, and Michigan? Wash played Rutgers, Idaho, Portland St non conference. That's a Steve type schedule he used to throw out there for Dixon.

What conputers? They switched to a human selection committee. Computers are tossed out the window.

“I want to emphasize that our protocol is to select the four very best teams in college football,” Hocutt said. “When the selection committee believes there are comparable teams, when two teams are comparable, there’s razor-thin margins between the two, that’s when we go to the protocol and the metric, being conference championships, strength of schedules, head-to-head and outcomes against common opponents.”

Yep for sure Washington is far better than Ohio state. Putting a beating on the number 8 team now.

Well you asked me why I think they are better not why a selection committee does.

But I do think winning a better conference is better than not winning a bad conference... Call me weird there.

The problem with all of this is they set out to pick the 4 "best" teams and not the four most deserving teams. The "best" teams are completely subjective. Same people picking the best teams are the ones that had Texas A&M at 4 to start. Same guys on TV saying who is best by the eyeball test are the same guys 6 weeks ago that said Louisville is a clear #2 and only team that could challenge Alabama.....same experts that had ND in the top 5. Eyeball ... I think ... all BS.... put in the 4 teams that earned their way in.

Find me any professional that believes the PAC is better or the B1G is a bad conference? Give it a rest.

The final score last night proves Wash will be there. They walloped the #8 team when their passing attack wasn't working and killed them with the ground game. That is good coaching and the Wash head coach is one of the best.

I can not get past the fact that Michigan has lost 2 of their last 3, and are sitting in the 5 spot.
I agree, but you also have to consider their schedule in the last 3 games.

Michigan played teams that have won 69.4% of their games in the final 3.
PSU played teams that have won 30.6% of their games in the final 3.
Wisconsin played teams that have won 39% of their games in the final 3.

It's easy to point out how much better your record is in the last 3 games when you played 3 games vs teams ranked as Average(61st), Below Average(81st), and Very Bad(113th).

Winning percentages over the last 10 years of teams ranked 6-15 vs those rankings.
6-15 vs 51-70 (Indiana)= 91% win ratio
6-15 vs 71-90 (Michigan St)= 94% win ratio
6-15 vs 106-115 (Rutgers)= 100% win ratio

How's this?

Conference Power Rankings Composite from 65 different predictors, retrodictions, and power rankings, including all 6 of the previous BCS selectors.
1. SEC
2.PAC
3.ACC
4.Big 10

Big 10 has the strongest up top, but by far the weakest bottom and an average middle. The only real teams that matter are the top 50, because they are the ones that can actually beat top 10 and top 25 consistently year in and year out. Those ranked outside the top 70 have only won 6 games vs top 30 teams in the past 10 years.

There is no way PS or Wisky are getting in if they pick the best 4 teams.

Michigan is the best team in b10 imo. Got screwed at osu and only lost due to injured qb. Osu should be in with one loss though. I think the big10 champ should get in over mich just for winning conference. Michigan blew it with loss to iowa. It would be hard to swallow pedo getting in over Michigan though as Michigan destroyed them and is prob still 2-3 touchdowns better.

My top 4 would be Alabama, Michigan, Clemson, OSU. Michigan would be the only team I would take to potentially upset Bama. Bama is gonna crush Washington, Clemson or OSU.

Agree. I think those r the 4 best teans. In that order too.

Agree. My sense is they would pick the big 10 winner which is not even close to a top 4 team.

Based on what? I gave you the quote he used that tells everybody they don't look at conference champions or head2head until they have 2 teams that they feel are comparable....the difference is razor thin. He said the difference between Washington and Michigan, was razor thin....so they go to things like conference champs....which is why Washington was 4 and michigan 5.

PSU AND Wisconsin are right behind Michigan in the standings. They don't see Wisky or PSU as a comparable team with a razor thin margin. If so, either team would have jumped Michigan for the # 5 slot as they both won their divisional crown.

They are picking the 4 best teams, not 4 conference champs.

If Clemson takes care of business, then the 4 best teams are 1) Bama 2) Clemson 3) Washington 4) OSU

Washington has played absolutely nobody. The only team they played (USC) crushed them. They are lucky to be in the top 4.
they played a pac 12 schedule...always amazed that someone calls another conference's teams nobodies when there is very little crossover to make this determination....

Did they challenge themselves with at least 1 good game out of conference?

If Clemson handles Va Tech then the BigTen champ won't matter and the Final 4 will be set. Ohio St. will be "penalized" for not winning their conference and get Alabama. Clemson and Washington will play each other in the other semi-final.

The correct answer.
