Barnes and Gallagher

This whole thing is funny. That the whole problem is that Pitts athletic department is swimming with money and they're holding out on paying the OC.

As if it's that simple.
I mean, if it was, they're be no movement in college sports.

Wisconsin was in the same boat last year. Lost their DC to Lsu.
So tell me, what does Pitt have that Wisconsin - and a whole lot of other schools - don't have to prevent this sort of thing from happening?

I'm not enamored with this administration they way most others here are, but I think they are doing what they can.
And frankly, should he leave - regardless of it being a better job - I think it's real crappy of Canada to do so after one season when Narduzzi threw him a lifeline.
Pitt's athletic department runs multimillion deficits annually.
You're mistaken.

I think that is what he is alluding too and was pointing out that many on here believe pitt athletics just have millions laying around and it's a funny notion because it's not true.

Well they did say they were serious about making Pitt football a priority. This will tell us if they meant it.

Make a statement to the fans and give Canada a million a year or whatever it takes to keep him. It's on you two to make it work and show us that things are different.

Reactions: Chaos
We have a fan base that is small, there is a difference. You don't think Alabama, OSU and Penn State have fans who don't contribute?

Everyone wants a Cadillac and no one wants the monthly payment or insurance costs.

"Durrr we get the script back and I'll ..." its back.

"We get rid of Steve Pederson and..." he gone.

"We start winning again and..." we've been ranked in the top 25 the past two years.

Face it: we have a fanbase that is cheap and lazy.

I agree. If Gallagher and Barnes really want to reestablish Pitt as a prominent football program then they need to act like it.

If they meekly let LSU poach their guy without a fight then we'll know that they're not really serious about running a big boy program.
So will it's fan base by giving more to the program. It's a fact.

Get rid of Hill and put the money toward Canada's salary bump. The secondary didn't even exist anyways.

Season Tickets

Tradition Fund TicketsApproximately 45,000 football season tickets require a donation to LSU’s Tradition Fund for the right to purchase those tickets. Invoices for the Tradition Fund Contribution are mailed in January of each year. Tradition Fund Contributions are due by March 31 of each year, prior to the mailing of season ticket renewal forms.

Forty-five thousand of LSU's season tickets require an annual donation. We don't even get 45,000 at most of our games.

We won't know the details of what pitt offered. And Canada may want to move on regardless. it doesn't say dick if he leaves.

No way should Pitt pay Canada $1.3 million.....doesn't make any sense! If LSU is paying Aranda that then I'm sure the offer to Canada will be in the same neighborhood. We are talking about a guy who was let go a year ago. Yes he struck lightning in a bottle this year but by no means is he worth $1 million plus and doesn't really recruit. LSU comes with big time pressure and coaches will coach differently in that environment. Good for Matt for cashing in but in two short years he could be taking a severe pay cut once again.

I stated it before and i will state it again, Pitt's current goals should be to pay in the top 25% of the ACC, those are our peers. I want Canada to stay but at anything more than $850,000 I do not see it as being financially feasible for Pitt. Let's also remember that this is for an OC only, not and OC who is a kick ass recruiter. Pitt is limited here.
