Barnes better be on the first flight to Tucson and not return until

He's way more animated on the sidelines, though.

So, that's a non-starter for many.

Even made it onto the Dan LeBatard show because he was so ridiculously out of control and beet red yelling in one of his players' faces earlier this season.

He might make better eye contact, which would balance out some of these horrible flaws, but I think his overall animation and treatment of players will make many hate him.

Sean Miller at 12 doing amazing things. He already put James Robinson to shame. Look for yourself.

He's basically Jamie on the sidelines, but with a lot of public berating of players added. He must have picked that last part up from Paul Evans.

Sean is our new coach. If you liked Jamie, you'll love Sean. He's just a more personable Jamie who gets better players.

Make it happen, Barnes.

I don't believe it's true at all that he's more personable than Jamie. And this opinion is formed in part from someone who knows both. Regardless, being personable is by no means his reputation.

This however, does not mean I would or wouldn't be supportive for Miller to be our coach. He might not be my first choice, but most certainly an acceptable one.

Don't know -- I'll think about if TCU announces Dixon as their new coach. But I'm not going to worry about it now.

Understand; I'm sure that if TCU does hire Jamie we won't just jump at the first "suit" who's available or who shows interest. If Jamie does leave it will keep this board very active during March Madness. Might be more fun than if we were still somehow alive!

So everyone will want Cal, Miller, or whichever coach takes a mid major to the final 4 this year. Pitt will land none of these.

I have a feeling who most people's top 3 are, and who the legitimately reasonable options are, will be two totally different lists.

Those hoping for Cailpari, e.g., will do just that; hope! That would be more unlikely than Bernie Sanders winning the Democratic Party nomination

I'm not a Gold Member, but I'm pretty sure that more of the "serious" speculation on who would be JD's replacement probably resides there. I will probably lurk through much of the chatter; will expect Barnes, et al to make the right choice - if JD leaves

Nope - Will Wade at VCU

Watched a lot of VCU this year and liked what I saw of Wade, I'm just naturally leery of anyone who replaces a great coach and has a good first season or 2.

I'm never sure if he's just inheriting someone else's players and continuing a system, or is a legitimately solid coach.

Pitt could definitely do worse than Wade though.

Arizona, which has more athletic revenue than Pitt, is paying him over $3 million a year.
Pitt wouldn't/couldn't pay that much for a football coach, let alone a hoops coach.

Give it up.

You do realize Dixon makes more than Miller, right?

I don't believe that's necessarily true. It looks like Miller's base salary is $2.3MM, and is due to increase by $100K per year until leveling off at $2.6MM.

Per Pitt's tax returns released in May of 2015, Dixon made $3.2MM but only $1.4MM of that was salary and the rest was incentives and bonuses related to the ACC vesting. The May 2015 tax returns are related to the July 2013 through June 2014 fiscal year, so it was the Patterson/Zanna senior year season.

I have not seen anything related to what he made during last year's NIT season, nor do I know if his $1.4MM base salary has increased at all.

I posted his actual contract in a thread earlier. It's from the university records.
I think the year you used was inflated because Dixon got some sort of one time extra money for the ACC move but could be wrong?

Valid concern - I like the fact that he won at Chattanooga, he was coach of the year in the conference, and he set them up to make the NCAA this year. They were 24-40 prior to his arrival. Then add in the fine coaching job he did this year, he is a good recruiter, and has a good staff with ties throughout NY, DC, VA, etc. An added bonus is 3 R. Jr. on his roster who could be Grad Transfers if they choose to do so.

I didn't post anything regarding Dixon. The PG article mentioned his salary. I only provided Miller's.

I'm assuming the local media hasn't gotten around to discussing replacements yet, but when they do Wade is almost certainly going to be on the list.

Like a lot of Pitt fans I am very relieved that this search will be conducted by the current administration.

He's a decent choice, but he's not a slam dunk. Almost everything you said about Wade could be said about Holtmann, who did similar things at a worse program in Gardner-Webb, and has made back to back NCAA appearances, winning a game in each. He's a bit older than Wade, but they are more similar than different. Any talk of grad transfers should be the absolute last thing on Barnes mind, would be so short sighted.

Although, if we are going the super-young A-10 coach, why aren't we just throwing a ton of cash at Archie?

I'd like to think maybe we could add a P5 or P6(if you include Big East) coach before we are going for 1st time HC's in the A-10. I look at UVA, who hired a guy like Tony Bennett from Wazzou, or Va Tech who hired Buzz. I want a more established coach. I'm not sure who that is thought at this point, but Pitt will pay, and its an attractive job.

This is where a lot of this is on Barnes. Who does he know? You know the minute he got this job he had a name or two in mind for a situation like this. And no offense to the VCU coach, but I doubt it was Will Wade.

He got trashed by a lower seed....and is a despicable bum. Would you buy season tickets if he was hired?? Your opinion doesn't matter.

You better be on a couch this afternoon and not return
Period

Your act is stale
You gonna throw out 50 names then brag about it if one hits ?
