Barnes has preached better communication with fanbase

1. Most people would rather be in NYC for the holidays then Annapolis.
2. Most people think Yankee stadium is a better venue then Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
3. Dec 26 is a better date for people to attend or watch the game because it a Saturday when most people are off. The Military bowl is played on a Monday at 2:30 when many people will be back at work.
4. As good as Navy is this year the perception is that playing a B1G team even Indiana is a bigger game.
5. It is a home game for Navy.

Playing 6-6 IU a bigger game than 10-2 #21 Navy. Yea. OK. IU is a laughing stock.

And Dec 28 is much better than Dec 26.

I would rather catch a baseball game at Yankee Stadium as opposed to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. No way is it a better venue for football.

NYC is just a short 4 hour drive. You can still spend Christmas there or go up to watch the Ball drop and work that in with your bowl trip if you want.

I'd rather play #21 ranked Navy on Dec. 28 rather than Indiana on Dec. 26.

Absolutely! I love this game, there's a good chance that I'm going too. Perfect time 2:30 PM, awesome venue. Not in the middle of a big city, And for those all hyped up over playing a good opponent, Navy is ranked and way stronger, and has better football tradition than B1G light weights like Minnesota or Indiana.

Best college football venue in the country is Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Why? It's NOT big, the last row is better than the lower bowl at Heinz field, it's NOT in a congested place like NYC... It's just a great place to go for a game.

I cannot believe the teeth gnashing and angst and the whining over this. My god, get over it. Is NYC the day after Christmas against a really mediocre Indiana team any better than the Military Bowl? Or is the Sun Bowl any better? It is not like we got passed over for the Rose Bowl.

Jesus....ever since yesterday on this board, on Twitter, the constant whining from Pitt fans on something so completely trivial is giving me migraines.

Had we beat Miami, where would we be going, and would we still be where we are now ? Win the conference or bust for us? I don't like being in the ACC, it has took a lot away from my football and basketball experience. That's my opinion

Probably the sun .
Because they don't care about attendance.

And how so? Better top level bowls and still same crap secondary.
If you mean the bet in msg, agreed.

What's to communicate? A whole lot of people, including myself, think he passed on the Pinstripe for the Military Bowl for a variety of reasons, reasons I actually agree with. But, a lot of people don't.

I find it very difficult to believe that the Yankees would select a Duke team that has a much smaller fanbase, is further away (probably even has fewer alums in NYC metro than we do), and lost to us head to head. Duke is probably the worst traveling fanbase out of the P5 schools outside of BC, though we're not far behind.

As I said, I'm OK with the Military Bowl. But, did we truly get picked over? I think Pitt fans have a right to know, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE EVERYBODY SAID IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE FOR 6-6 PITT TO JUMP 7-5 BC FOR THE PINSTRIPE LAST YEAR.

Pitt's AD had NO role in the selection of Pitt's bowl game--ZERO. Yes, Pitt lobbied and tried to position itself to be most attractive to the selection committee for each bowl [as they do every year]...but the bowls are the ones that make the choice--period. That you would attempt to blame Pitt's AD for where Pitt ended up...only shows how foolish and uninformed you are about the bowl selection process. If you want to complain, you should complain that the ACC permits the bowls to select whoever they want--without regard to record. Of course the only reason the ACC has the bowl lineup that it does...is because for the precise reason that they let the bowls make the selections without regard to record. Hail to Pitt!

One shouldn't have to go to a pay site - one Pitt doesn't get a cent from -on a recruiting message board to get an answer.

I'm glad someone else feels this way. Every cent anyone gives to Panther Lair should go directly to Pitt instead. I can't fathom the ridiculous money that this site makes for operating a basic message board. The idea that people pay to read each other's comments is astounding.

He absolutely has to explain to the fanbase why we dropped to Tier 2. Time to be open and honest. Did the Pinstripe really prefer Duke, a team with a smaller fanbase than ours, or did Pitt simply prefer to play the better program, on a better date, at a closer location?

I actually agree with choosing the Military Bowl if that was what indeed happened. The TaxSlayer, Belk, and Music City were never in play despite the idiotic picks you saw all week on those sites. Pitt will never sell enough tickets to play in games like that. The 3 teams chosen for those games will sell an insane amount of tickets.

It was always between the Pinstripe and Sun. However, in the end, the bad matchups (no-name programs who score a million points) combined with the really bad dates made Barnes think outside the box and drop down to the Military Bowl.

Navy is better than IU and WSU and is the bigger-name program. Not only that, but we have already faced the triple option this season and Narduzzi may want to spend a few weeks preparing for GT's offense since we looked so bad in the first half. Dont think Narduzzi didnt have some say in this. IU and WSU are very bad matchups and a loss would be catastrophic, especially to IU.

I just hope Barnes comes out and explains everything. Just be honest. You made the choice. Tell us why. If you didnt make the choice and none of the Tier 1's wanted us, be honest about that. Blame us. We're the reason, not the players.

Whether right or wrong, there's a lot of irate, frustrated Pitt fans right now. He needs to explain exactly what happened. He cant come out looking bad if he does. If it was their choice to drop down, he can make an excellent case for that. If the bowls passed us over, he can blame them and our lack of fan travel which we all know plays a huge role.
Barnes doesn't owe us anything....the bowls picked who they picked...case closed.....now go try and find a $2 seat of stubhub

It leiu of all the grief you guys are giving him over than, it is interesting that in the email Pitt sent out they kind of implored us to buy the tickets from them.

I mean, when I look at reason as to why I can't go to a bowl - sorry guys, this one will be no exception - cost of the tickets themselves has never been a factor. Cost of physically getting to the game and/or being able to get to the game itself is what has always been the problem.
