PITT WINS 8-3 !!!!!! .... Garrett Wrambel pitched 5 innings in relief and gave up 1 hit and 0 runs !!!!!! .... Pitt wins 2 out of 3 games in the series after losing the 1st game..... Pitt now 17-14 overall and 8-9 in the ACC.

Nice to win 2 out of 3. That was a necessity as VT is the worst team in the ACC. Have to win the next 4, all OOC. 21-14 with an RPI around 20-25 and we'll be in good position.

Unfortunately, that isn't how it works. AFTER winning 2 of 3 from Virginia Tech our RPI is already down to 40. Our strength of schedule, which is what was propping us up much higher than our record indicated, has fallen from around 8th in the country to 35th. A win over 7-21 Youngstown State is only going to further drop both our RPI and our SOS. Even winning three games at home against the Ohio version of Miami, record 19-16 with an RPI of 143, is not going to really help. And if we lose one of those games? It isn't going to be pretty. The real reason we need to win these next four games is to minimize the damage, not to improve our position.

By the way, Virginia Tech's game tracker is much better than Pitt's version. Gives you way more information about the game and the players. Too bad we can't switch to their version.
