The second set was brutal but the girls got another sweep. A dream season!
Unfortunately, it won't be a dream season unless they do something in the NCAA tournament. They are primed and positioned for a deep run. Just have to go and do it, now.
Yeah, Duke went on a tremendous run right after I posted here. Thought I jinxed them.
The bench players seemed to be really struggling when Duke went on that run.
Honestly, the only match I watched this season was the PSU one because the result is pre-determined. Crazy to say that about a Pitt team. I'll start watching them in the NCAAT. I'll probably go to all the games.
The next game this coming Friday at the Fitz is against the ACC’s hottest team (other than the Panthers). Georgia Tech has come on strong winning 8 straight including wins at UNC and NC State and sweeps over Duke, Miami, and Florida State. GT has worked their way up to a three-way tie for second in the ACC with FSU and ND and is trying to play their way into the NCAAs.
In ACC play, Pitt is 12-0 and has lost only one set thus far (at FSU) and that is pretty amazing. Definitely want to keep that streak going. Pitt has a three game lead in the conference but nationally they have no margin for error if they want to host the whole way through the NCAAs. There are only 6 regular season games left: 4 at home, 2 of which are against the teams tied for second and another against the highest RPI team in the conference after Pitt.

FYI....they played Penn St twice, swept them on the road, and then lost in 5 sets.

I'm surprised there's no post season conference tournament for Volleyball.
Maybe they should lower the amount of conference games to 14, everyone play once, and then introduce a conference tournament in November.
It could be some more quality content for ACCN.
Now that 4 out of the 5 major conferences have their own network, it could be a possibility across the board. Women's Volleyball is entertaining.

There was a championship tourney in the Big East, and still is (both in the American and new Big East). The ACC had one until 2004. But none of the five power conferences have them. I'm not sure why.

Yea, which is why I watched that game. I woulda watched the first one but I didn't know they played them until the next day. Watching Pitt women's volleyball has almost become like watching WWF Saturday mornings in the 80s and 90s when they used to have a regular WWF dude wrestle the Brooklyn Brawler or some other dude with a regular name that you knew they'd have lose in about a minute or 2.
The announcers said the ACC doesn’t fair to well in NCAA tourney. I hope this is the year. That 3rd set showed just how dominating our team is.
