Many places. but not all
Pitt basketball was in the sh!tter before Howland and Dixon and that we ought to be happy with what we have, let me ask a few questions.
  1. Because you made more money in 2014 than in 1998, are you willing to take less than 2014 now but more than you made in '98?
  2. Do you have season tickets and if so, are you buying as many in 2015-16 as previously?
  3. Do you want a good coach or a good recruiter or both?
  4. Is Dixon a good coach?
  5. Is dixon a good recruiter of players?
  6. Is Dixon a good recruiter of assistants?
  7. Would you extend JD's contract were it due to expire at the end of the 2-16-17 season?

  2. Do you have season tickets and if so, are you buying as many in 2015-16 as previously? Yes...since 1982.
  3. Do you want a good coach or a good recruiter or both? Both
  4. Is Dixon a good coach? Absolutely, not many better.
  5. Is dixon a good recruiter of players? At times, not recently
  6. Is Dixon a good recruiter of assistants? At times, outstanding. Not recently.
  7. Would you extend JD's contract were it due to expire at the end of the 2-16-17 season? Useless question....2 years away.

1. no
2. no but I go to most of the games
3. both
4. yes
5. no
6. no
7. not right now, wait till after this season. Personally, I dont get worked up over how many years are on a contract. All contracts have buyouts and its almost never the case where the school has to pay a coach the salary they would have earned in those years. That's one of the biggest myths of the coaching profession. Dixon's buyout is probably around $2-3 million (total guess). If he leaves to take another job, he or the other school pays us that money. If he gets fired, we pay him that money. The buyout protects both sides.

the question is whether being a good coach can compensate for not being able to recruit talent on or off the floor. I am skeptical, but I would love to be pleasantly surprised.
i decided to renew the tickets simply because I want Pitt to do well.
next years is a diffeent decision.

The good news is through "overcoaching" college basketball coaches have way more control over what happens on the scoreboard as opposed to college football. Its always my opinion that most college football games are won before they're played. College hoops is different and Jamie has shown that he can win with lesser talent so I expect him to continue to do that. Will it be at the level we saw before? Probably not but he'll continue to win, I think.

I've said many times the hard decision will be what to do in a few years if he's getting consistent 8/9 seeds and never making the Sweet 16.

Gee wiz NTOP... nice to see most of your reply lost in the quote. Maybe you should do more of this.
