Looks like Ben is deferring blame for the 4th and ones to Haley. Is he taking credit for the 4th down touchdown plays, probably. What about the 4th and 1- 20 yard pass to JU JU who was covered like a blanket but Rogers wide open for a 5 yard pass and 1st down, who will hw blame for that.

A few things - first, Ju Ju is a much more reliable receiver than Rogers. Key play, a QB wants to go the guy who is most likely to make the play if possible.

Second, when Ben locked in on Ju Ju, he had made the cut inside and was going to be really open. Then, the DB did what the Jags did most of the game, grabbed his pads the neck to pull him back/pull himself back into the play.

If you watch the replay, Ju Ju outstretched and got the ball, but not enough to make the play. If the DB does not grab him like that, Ju Ju makes that catch easy, probably get some good YAC off it, too.

NOT saying the interference non-calls were the reason they lost.

Finally, minus Ben, this team is not even in the playoffs to begin with.

Simple. Haley. next question. Bill Belichick has a ninety year old qb. Do you happen to know what play on 4th and less than a yard the Patriots run EVERY time to successfully get the first down?

I guess Ben was afraid he'd get benched if he just sneaked it anyway?
ya think Brady has to go audible because of stupid play calls? Who would have ever thought the mighty Pittsburgh Steelers would have to use finsess to get two twelve inch 4th downs but I guess if you have to hide in a tunnel afraid of song you lose that tough card....

Just put a dress on #7- can't run a QB sneak at His size when you don't even need a half yard to move the sticks. The plays on those two 4th down plays are enough to fire the entire staff and make Ben wear a dunce cap for the entire next 12 months.

The play calls were mostly Haley, the throw to juju was bad though and ben on the very first 4th and 1 did change the play to that I'm pretty sure. Taking nix off the field on a 4th and 1 however was one of the worst coaching decisions in a long time.

Those guys were playing in 15-degree weather. Is that tough enough for you?

If your first take from that game is to bitch about Ben you are totally misguided. He was the only reason the Stillers stayed in it. The real reason for the loss was we got our asses kicked on the defensive line of scrimmage. All the other stuff was incidental noise.

Agree, but if Ben plans to come back he better devote the off-season to losing 15 or 20 pounds. Just my opinion.

Did this become a steeler board?
You're right, this is the Pitt football only board...Did you see Keyshon in Econ0500 on Friday? That dude was taking some serious notes! I wish I had a replay of when he picked up that pencil that the dude next to him dropped. He was on it like lightning.

Good point. Just ask yourself this.... Would Brady come in 15-20 lbs over weight? That doesn't take ability, just desire. If old man Tom Brady can come into camp in shape, you can best believe the rest of the team will follow.

That is leadership...

That is not my first take. They were in it because of Ben, but if you read my post it was about Ben blaming someone else which is what he does when the play calls are questioned. 6 foot 5 250 pounds, get the freakin first down.

Since I have no idea who made those idiotic calls I won't chime in. But you are right on what they should have done. A QB sneak is a far better call than a 5 yard deep pitch against a defense that is quick as crap.

In reality the game was lost along the defensive front. They got their asses kicked.

That's funny cause I saw a tweet today from a KC Writer laughing that the Steelers called a toss sweep on 4th and inches as he used to do this at KC also. So yeah, let's blame Ben

Ben threw for almost 500 yards and 5 TDs. He did make a horrible throw on the pick and he held the ball too long on the strip fumble. He made some unbelievable throws and kept the Steelers in the game. The OL was mediocre, the run game was pedestrian and the WR's had a hard time getting open.

The defense lost the game. They got no pressure. They didn't have one negative yardage play all afternoon. They gave up big pass plays as they have all year. They didn't set the edge and let the Jags running game get going.

I would replace Keith Butler, Joey Porter and Carnell Lake

#7 had the second most interceptions of the top 18 quarterbacks by rating. he's had 43 int's in the last three years compared to 17 for brady. that's a lot of the gap between those two teams right there, turnovers.

Ben sometimes throws more INTs against the Jaguars then Brady throws in entire seasons.

The gap this year was a bullshit call the guys in stripes. Ben sometimes throws for 5 TD's

3....maybe more years of Ben. Haley gone.

I guess when I tell you guys Bouchette tells me it’s not good enough. You guys need to see it in print. Have at it.

he's always been a turnover machine, he has fumbled a lot too

he doesn't have the elite defense anymore to cover up his mistakes

The offense was far from perfect, but scored 42 points. When you score 42 points, and your QB throws for 470 yards and 5 TD, you should never lose.

You most likely will lose when all of that yardage comes after going down three scores. Ben was a big part of why they were down in the first place.

Haley needs to be gone at a minimum. The off field stuff might be the straw that breaks the camels back. Porter probably goes, too.

Wonder if Mularkey gets a look as OC.

I think Porter and Lake will go. No inside info here. I can see William Gay taking over for Carnell Lake. How about Munchak for OC? I know this is blasphemy here, but what ILB has improved under Jerry O? I’d look to dump him also.

I think Mitchell on the DL is safe....as is Butler for at least 1 more year. Lake, Porter and Jerry O should all be looked into.
