Jaland Lowe may be the best Pitt BB player to enter the portal, but it got me thinking that despite having had some 17 players transfer (through the portal) Pitt really never lost a true star player. If anything, Pitt has benefited more from acquiring portal transfers than we've lost

So, with that said, here are four variables to consider:

Best Pitt player to transfer since 2021 (i.e., he provided his new school a better result than what he gave Pitt)

Worst Pitt player to transfer since 2021 (i. e., was worse @ new school than @ Pitt)

Best player Pitt got from the portal

Worst player Pitt got from the portal

Mine:

Santos
Toney
Hinson - with Burton a close second
Dunn

I do think Cohren at the 4 will be a much better player. He was playing out of position at the 5. Two bigs at the same time will be a different style for Capel.

Like most teams, Pitt wants/needs their four to be able to stretch the floor, which would include being able to shoot threes and longer range twos on occasion. In his three seasons of college basketball to date, Corhen has shown little ability to do that. If he plays the four, if/when he goes out to the three point line teams are basically going to say, yeah, sure, go ahead and stay out there. If you want to try to beat us with that, more power to you.

I don’t get this. Toney was a key contributor on very good Arkansas team that went to the elite 8.

How old is Toney? He should be improved with the talent surrounded him but continue your little daily rants on here. You have no idea who we're going to land in the portal. But you continue the negativity day after day. Don't root for our basketball team if you have that much hatred towards JC.

Iowa st and Houston are two teams that come to mind that don't play that way. Pretty successful. Maybe Capel will give it a try. I'd like to get back to being a more physical team.

At this point I would think there is almost no chance at all the Capel is going to change to a defense first team that plays offense with two players near the basket. It's just not what he wants to do.

He might not have a choice. His best 5 might revolve around Cohren and Jackson on the floor together.

No P4 player with more than one year of eligibility would sign with Pitt as a free agent due to the uncertain coaching situation after this coming season. Might get a mid major guy (and his agent) with more than one year of eligibility who are convinced that a P4 gig is his ticket to the pros.
