I post this here because Im not sure you go on the hoops board. Can you explain this?

The Pitt/SF spread dropped from 15.5 to 9 in the span of a few hours today. That's a drastic drop and would signify a ton of money coming in on a team picked 6th in the 10 team NEC, who lost their 2 leading scorers and returned only 4 players who played in a game last year. Doesn't that seem a little fishy?

Where and when did you see the line drop that much? It was -15.5 at 5pm when I last looked.

It was 9 on The Rivers right near game time. I maybe place 3-4 bets per year and I thought 15.5 was so low, I was going to put money on Pitt to cover, then I saw it at 9 and couldn't believe it. I tried to get my bet in before tip but missed it. I thought maybe Pitt had some players missing that they found out late about. I don't follow this stuff that closely but a line being cut almost in half in a few hours just seems really weird.

Now that I'm typing this, I guess maybe The Rivers probably never had at it at 15.5. Maybe they opened at 11 or 12 and it got bet down to 9.

FanDuel, DraftKings, and FoxBet all had -15 or -15.5 when I checked.

I believe I saw it at -15.5 on Rivers between 6 and 7. I unfortunately opted for an Under for the first half, a bet that hit rather consistently last year.

Im thinking you must’ve been looking at a first half line by mistake. Most places I saw in town closed at Pitt -15.5 or 16, but almost everyone had Pitt -9 for first half wagering only.

Will also add for anyone that bet the Steelers/Ravens before the date change to check the house rules wherever they placed their wager. In Nevada those bets are all now refunded, and either tonight or tomorrow morning books will put it up again with new rotation numbers. They do this because most places have a rule that games must go off on the date of the wager. Not sure if everywhere still copies the same rules as Nevada, but you should definitely check to avoid yourself the aggravation.

I know out here there will be plenty of fights with people that think they have winning tickets and are extremely pissed when they find out it’s only a refund. Conversely there will be plenty of tourists that throw away what they think are losing tickets and the usual cast of characters will be digging them out of garbage cans looking for free money.

Ok makes sense. I ended up betting $150 on SF at halftime to win outright. Netted $94.50 but that wasn't nearly enough to for the pain and suffering of having to watch that.
