Thought I would move my earlier dump at the end of another thread to here---to solicit other observations from other Pitt fans who saw the game--live or streamed, in whole or in parti. My observations on last ~1/3 of game watched via live-stream:

"'Wish I had known Channel 21 (CBS Harrisburg) was live streaming the game. Discovered they were about mid-way through the 3rd quarter when PA was up 26-0.

Was wondering where Hamlin was since I did not see him on the field from the time I started to watch on my computer. The announcers mentioned some player (didn't give a name) was on the sidelines on crutches. I was thinking it might be Hamlin?

During that last 1/3 of game Theran Coleman got lots of mention and looked really good in coverage. Ford was in on the OL but didn't get specifically called out by the announcers while I watched although the entire PA OL was praised. Aaron Matthews looked good on a catch and run until he fumbled because he was showboating and didn't protect the ball from being stripped. DT Wheeler seemed to play well and was mentioned by announcers as well as the whole PA DL for its play.

The PA offensive stars raved about were running backs Sanders (PSU), Khaleke Hudson (Michigan) and Jo-El Shaw (Syracuse). Overall, the announcers thought there were at least a half-dozen future NFL-ers on the field but I didn't watch the post-game so I don't know if they listed them and how many were from Pitt's 7 players in game.

Anyone watch the entire game (TV or live) who can add anything?"

Was there. The Pitt guys looked good but the Maryland side was really undermanned. They had a DT with maybe 180lbs on him. Wheeler was fast off the ball and made a lot of runs forced to the outside where Hudson or another lb would drag the runner down or force him out of bounds.
Hamlin had a deflected INT, played well but I did not see him on crutches so no worries there.
Ford is a large man. I think with coaching and college weight training he could be good. He didn't do well in pass protection though but that can be fixed.
The guy that stood out was matthews. Really good raw talent. Didn't drop a ball, and ran really smooth. Tall and looks the part of a college WR.
The crowd was weak, but that has been the case from years from what I hear.
The two guys that really stood out were Hudson who has a real smell for the ball and was everywhere and miles sanders. Sanders was really good at finding angles and holes. Not going to lie that both would have looked great in panther unis.
El Shaw also was good, but not nearly as quick as sanders. Looks like a future lb to me as opposed to rb, but who knows there.
Overall the future panthers looked great

The announcers said that Hamlin was one of the top DB's in the country and he wasn't shown in many plays because he was blanketing the receiver he was covering so the MD QB's were not throwing his way.

Is it just me, or does Coleman look a good deal bigger than Hamlin? From the pics on Hamlin's twitter, Coleman is MUCH thicker, especially in the legs. I was supprised to see this as I would think a CC weight room would produce a bigger kid than a city school.

Also on Matthews, he was uncoverable at some of the camps he went to before his senior year. He really moves well and gives the qb a big window to throw to. He might be a tick or two slow in straight line speed, but I'm alright with that.

It looked like Sanders had a LOT of fun playing with Hamlin and his wpial buddies. Too bad he didn't decide that having that fun was more important than pleasing his mumma by getting away from big bad Oakland.

0k, answering your question....I agree about Coleman looking "bigger" than Hamlin, in fact Hamlin looked skinny (he is tall though), especially in the legs. Coleman was also pretty aggressive. I stated earlier that Hamlin may have gotten shook up after his early acrobatic interception (landed awkwardly), he played little after that. From what I saw sitting there, I doubt that any of these DB's will play this year although Hamlin supposedly has a shot at CB.
That's not to say the DB's weren't good last night, they were.

I agree with what you said about Mathews. He looked IMO to be the best WR in the game
(both teams). He was open a lot, but the QB's were barely average throwing the ball (the
PA QB going to UVA is nothing to write home about....good scrambler though). I thought
Mathews had the best performance in this game of the Pitt recruits (at least statistically).
He needs to put on weight, and I doubt he plays this year, but I like what he showed last night (despite the hotdog fumble). He definitely is a solid recruit for us.

Hope that Boyd Legacy, Mathews rejection of Franklin for Coach Pat will bring Wade to Pitt too?

As good as a recruiter as the dominator may be, not taking Hudson's verbal was a grade A failure and will end up haunting him/them.

I thought Hudson was the best payer on the field last night and hopefully he ends up killing the nits for several seasons.

Hamlin choosing Pitt and having Matthews switch to Pitt did not help either!

Hamlin should not have played in this game IMHO, didn't he have a minor surgery a few months ago........Dangerous to play in this game
