Big Win For Men!!

Great win, why cant ANY camera for Pitt home games actually "face the fans" ? They fixed it for basketball, hopefully they will fix it at Accrisure someday and they really should put the cameras on the other side of the soccer stadium.

Always been saying that. It’s also nice to see the benches though. It’s the whole Pederson Event Center situation again.

The people who would need to "fix" it at Accrisure would have no interest in doing so. Because the people responsible for that don't have a "home fan" side or an "away fan" side. The seats are full, and they are all home fans.

So they only way it gets "fixed" is if Pitt decides to move their bench to the sunny side of the field. Which they are not going to do.

Yes because having the benches in the sun for the 1 or 2 games per year where that is an issue is a terrible problem. Perception means a lot in college sport. Its more important to sit Pitt on the TV side so that those seats are FULL and with PITT FANS than it is for those players to be a little cooler on the other side. Its only the September 3:30 games where the Carnegie Science Center side gets the extra benefit of shade. For the noon games, both sides are blazing hot.

As for soccer, I cant even think of an ACC soccer stadium where the largest bleacher section is in the TV view. This is because they put the press box and TV camera box atop the largest sideline bleacher section and all the ACC stadiums just have 1 "grandstand" and its not in the TV view. In case you were wondering, these are the TV views of ACC soccer stadia:

UVa: a hillside where a few fans sit.

Wake: benches and a street behind them

Louisville: a hillside where a few fans sit and behind it, a railroad track

ND and VT: academic building

Clemson and UNC have bleachers in view but that's because they have bleachers on both sides.

Stanford has bleachers in view but not sure what's on the other side.

Duke, Syr, and BC dont have bleachers in view but I forget what's in view. Just know its not bleachers.

If it were me, I'd build a structure along the baseball 3rd baseline and soccer midfield behind benches to serve as seating for both. Maybe luxury box type of thing that opens to either field? And then above it you can put a camera nest to film soccer and provide alternate angles for baseball. But is this worth the $500K or whatever in cost? Probably not.

They really need to take a look at how Ambrose Urbanic looks on broadcasts. There's a lot they can do to spruce it up on that side...just with signage or different textures. The stone does not look great on TV either...like it was just a bad choice from a broadcast perspective. One would hope with time there is demand for seats on that side and you can pack the students over there and make the grandstand "premium" seating.

Being on the sunny side really isn't an issue.

Of course neither is being on the television side. This is just another one of those almost entirely meaningless issues that you latch onto and never want to let go. If you actually cared about this, then every Pitt home game, and I mean every Pitt home game, you'd be sitting in those seats on that side of the stadium. Doing your part to make Pitt look better. And yet you don't.

If YOU don't really think this matters, why on earth should anyone else?
