If you don't get the thread view back soon you will be losing a lot of members...I started reading back in the real "Panther Lair" days. Stayed on with rivals takeover...not a big poster, but a constant viewer.
the fact that the #4 thread is still "guilty movie pleasures" is your writing on the wall.......

How much do you pay to read this free message board?

Spring ball is over. No new commitments. Fall camp 3 months away. What else would you like to discuss? Yet another thread about the evils of Penn State? But since you brought it up, I find myself watching "Big Trouble In Little China" every time I come across it channel surfing.

Any thoughts on the possibility of a stadium in oakland,? Maybe we can talk about tarping seats, that's always fun

Yeah, I don't think Rivals is worried about non paying customers like us.

That said, the whole premise of this thread is stupid. The Guilty Pleasure Movie thread is #4 right now because people are reading and replying to it, and not much else mainly because there isn't much else going on. Duh.

In fact, it would be really stupid for people to have to go to page 3 or 4 to go into that thread just because someone wants it on thread-view.

Could discuss the psu kid(frat)suing the school...

BVG, Post a topic....

Well it is the 4th listed topic because people keep on posting to it. That is the way it works. I think it makes sense, to see where the most recent conversation is, not just bury it in that really uncomfortable thread view. In fact I HATE THREAD VIEWS! It is hard to follow.

You mean going back to the days of clicking every single link to see a persons response? no thanks. It better to just scroll down the page, much smoother. in the other view, I see where you can know who responded to you directly, but that's about the only thing I'll concede.

Advertisers are concerned with page hits so although he may not be paying to use it, he brings value to the site from his page views. So, he's not freeloading in the same ways as some of us do on something like Wikipedia which doesn't advertise.

I've used topic view for years. Didn't like it at first but would never go back. The simple premise is, you read what's popular. Its easier to follow long discussions that seem to interest people.

I do think they should let people choose and am not overly thrilled with the new board format but its mostly fine.

Compared to other sites, there really is not much advertising here. I believe Chris has stated in the past that they generate their income on subscriptions.

This is rich in so many moronic and different ways.

I bet if they doubled the advertising on the Pitt forum, it would generate enough extra revenue to buy three tacos and a Coke at Taco Bell.

It would be nice if someone had some insights into what the kids who camped at Pitt recently are thinking, and posted their thoughts here. I know that is what the pay site is for, but a few insights here would be nice. Not complaining, just saying that that is worth pining for. Thread views? LOL.

Board demise? You need to take a look at the Scout board... That's the definition of "demise".

Agree, on Scout.Com, they have created a Monster over there, it is so hard to navigate and confusion rules, you need 5 clicks to get anywhere and try finding what you want takes minutes not seconds.

Rivals has created a better version on this Board and has made responding to links far easier, uncomplicated, and very easy to post, edit, and stay on subject. It is a vast improvement as far as I am concern, and when I want to go other Boards and Rivals Other teams and look up Recruiting, Scheduling, and Commitments it is just as easy if not easier.

Yes, maybe they need a True Thread Page like the Old, but if it means giving up some of the Improvements, well, I can handle these changes, and I just appreciate the posters far more now.

The Real Talk on Pitt Football details is on the Premium Board Fifth and Forbes now and that is where the Best Knowledgeable Posters are in full discussion, and far better than anything I can ever contribute. I also enjoy the Chris Peak Radio Show every week!

I have major changes going on in my life and may be moving to Chicago and although I keep saying i will be posting less, at some point that is going to happen, but not due to anything rivals has done. It is just a Private Life Change that will take more of my time if it works out.

I am also in contact with a High Tech Executive part responsible for putting NFL Streaming on Yahoo.com and working directly with the NFL and he is teaching me many things of which I will share when allowed.

Times are a changing is all I have to say. Get Busy Changing With It Or Get Left behind!

Rivals lives due to being one of the places on the Internet that averages over 2 to 3 hours by Posters. they are not Communists and even Communists now under their Command Economies demand Profits!

Try going to Firefox Browser and set their Security and Pop Up Add Settings and adapt Google to that Browser, my HP High Tech have removed Internet Explorer due to many corruptions and viruses and replaced it with FireFox and Google within it. I was just on Google Chrome for a while and full of Pop-Ups too. I have no Pop-Ups or far fewer at least.

HP has a service that takes over your Computer and fixes anything at anytime for $15 month.

Cap'n, we are in Chicago a lot. My favorite city outside of Pittsburgh. My only beef with Chicago and the suburbs is the absurdly expensive real estate. If it wasn't for that, we may have moved there at some point. Pittsburgh is a much easier city financially to raise a family.

Yes, I agree, my Uncle and Aunt lived in Skokie and my Cousin Teaches at NW Medical School. The woman I know owns a few Buildings and her own Business, but she is born and bred there with her political connections looks like there a few years. I knew some friends that once knew Lefty Rosenthal the guy DeNiro played in Casino! Not sure yet, what we plan to do, she likes Pittsburgh too! We are way past family plans but very close friends growing closer these days. Anyway been traveling there more often and we shall see?

like I said, when yahoo is involved, things can get worse.

Will be right back...

Thank you for your patience.

Our engineers are working quickly to resolve the issue.

Cap, I'm going to worry about you in Chi town! The violence there is substantial...Ha, ha!

Well, I could rant about all this... but there is fewer posting, like I said.

I do like the fact the Chris seemed to ban all the penn state fakers for now.

I think I was one of the locker room posters from the old days, and that was probably the hayday so to speak of the board for me... it was fun, cool, hilarious... just a great atmosphere, and that was beaten down heavily. I remember one of the cool things was one poster summarizing the funniest events that day ... every day... can you imagine that happening now? You would be summarizing about 10 posts.

If the board was allowed to grow at that point and at that level (now, I know... our coaching turmoil would have hurt too)... this would be a monster board now. I mean, we would have had that penn state scandal, OSU's issues, the drunk guy at WVU that is coaching and all that to make fun of everyday... it would be a place the late night guys could go to craft a few jokes each day.

Anyways... I do like the banning finally, I dont like this format, and I think its dead mostly because it's a dead time of the year.

I used to love Story Time with Big Panther.

As another poster said, at least Chris does something on here to bring some sense of order on this board. 247 and SCOUT are sewers. They allow nitters, hoopies and non-Pitt fans to constantly roam the board with their nonsense. However most of us have been banned from their board. I would love to find out the backgrounds on the people running those two sites. I'll bet they're nitters or hoopies...

Hoopies don't run anything that is technology based. So.....I will give you another guess.

I have a Conceal Carry License and she got one for me from her Chicago Friends and those are hard to get, just like years ago in Philadelphia.

In the 1980s Philly would issue them to only about 5,000 and you needed political connections to get one and Courthouse related. They changed the Laws in the early 1990s and one guy is in charge of handling the process now, and now over 40,000 have them.

Yet, it Chicago right now, they are still like it was in Philly in the 1980s and just make it hard to get one, and they are challenged by the NRA in these days. In DC in the 1980-90ss many Lobbyists and Lawyers often used the US Marshall Office to get one for limited purposes they too had strict Laws.

I am a Life Member of the NRA and just respect the Right To Own A Firearm and took all the Safety Courses. I seldom carry it and never needed it in Pittsburgh, Philly, or Chicago, but still good to have the ability to have one, just in case. I have trouble carrying my Cell Phone let alone a Gun!

The company I used to work for had a production plant in Chicago and in the 1970's and '80's the night foremen used to carry a pistol while makng their rounds.

I go to Chicago for work every month. Good town

I quite agree, great town to be in and really do not need a Car because you can live there without leaving the city since it has all the Grocery Stores and other Shops needed. Unlike parts of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia that has some places where it is tougher to find sections with all stores needed to go to without a car. Love the Navy Pier Area where you can also bike. walk and run as you watch all the people on the Gold Coast Lakefront near the Magnificent Mile.

I went there in 1996 for President Clinton Convention with some Former Republican Congressman to a Breakfast sponsored by Ohio Delegation and Dick Gephardt spoke at the Breakfast and his head went side to side covering all the crowd as he spoke, stopped looking at his former colleagues and later came to them and greeted them warmly, even though Republicans. Got to meet John Glenn and briefly George Stephanopoulos who has family roots in Cleveland and Youngstown. Just a gadfly accompanying these Lobbyists doing their rounds, not to imply any kind of professional relationship with Gephardt, Glenn or Steppy! Always interesting to watch and remain in the background and listen.

A few years ago, went there again, when Vice President Biden spoke at a Fundraiser for their ticket re-election and that is when I started going more to Chicago more and more. I like the city very much and have not had a problem at all as any danger, safer than Happy Valley if you wear any Pitt Gear as far as I am concerned!

The old timers who complain about thread view being gone are the same ones who can't figure out how a quoted post works in topic view and were confused on how to respond to posts in thread view. People who literally can't figure out either one.
