Boston College is ranked?

That had to be a dare. I saw #24 Boston College is playing #9 Missouri and assumed it was women's lacrosse.

If Memphis beats a bad Florida State team this week, do they also get to be ranked? Curious when beating a bad team that was supposed to be a good team stops being a noteworthy accomplishment.

Feel at times the rankings are tv driven so that it can be advertised as a two top 25 teams. The SEC will also get to claim another top 25 W. Agree with BreakingPitt, ND should be out of the top 25, Meechigan as well and the peds should have dropped with the showing displayed last weekend. No polls till week 5 would make me happy.

I think it's still early enough that we are in the "projection," rather than the "accomplishments," phase. Like Clemson is 1-1 with an FCS win and a blowout loss, but I'm fine with them being ranked because they're likely a top 25 team.

I would also be fine with Northern Illinois not being ranked (though it looks like they are #25), despite having the best win of the year on paper, because they're likely not a top 25 team and we don't really know how good ND is yet.

But BC doesn't seem to fit either of those criteria. They're like a 6-6/7-5 roster with wins over an FCS team and what seems to be a bad FBS team.

Well at least football has moved in right direction towards a larger participation playoff. And to me, there always seems to be a shift in the polls once the voting comes in for the CFP polling.

But BC getting in there isn’t shocking.

Resumes should be ranked. Not teams. Just like the CFP. NIU has one of the best resumes in the country right now.

It's too early to know what anyone's resume is right now without making some assumptions. That's the paradox. ND could be the 40th best team in the country for all we know. And with some of the throws I was watching Riley Leonard make, they better buy some tickets if they want to attend the playoff.

Pitt plays BC their last game of the season. Wouldn't it be great if the winner of that game gets into the ACC championship game?

so confusing why ND cant recruit and develop a QB. they keep getting these good but far from great QB transfers that just will not elevate a good team to playoff contention.

Hartman was good at wake but it's wake. Leonard was good but he was "duke good" not notre dame good. they are basically the same guy. good for a lesser caliber program with a quirky delivery. not a notre dame fan but they should strive higher in the QB portal or try and develop one of their own..

they signed 3 four star QBs and another 3 star qb since 2020 and yet they continue to have to poach qbs from duke and Wake forest?

If Pitt was 2-0 and beat Notre Dame I bet they wouldn't be ranked like Northern Illinois either.
And ND shouldn't be ranked either.
Polls are dumb.
you would probably be wrong...strange how you guys think the entire college football world at all levels has it out for little ole Pitt for some reason...any explanation?

There should a certain power poll ingredient to it though.

Do you think NIU is one of the 25 best teams in the country?

and how exactly do you make that determination 2 games in? Polls should not be based on "what you think" they should be based on what you did or did not do.

Pitt eeked out a win last Saturday in a borderline miracle comeback against a lousy team and won an eventual laugher against the team that lost to St. Francis of Loretto..what should their their power ranking be right now? Should it be better than NIU's?

Sure. But I think its Clemson vs Miami/Cal. Miami goes to Berkeley on October 5. That could be the decider.

Communists vs Convicts?

No ACC team looks elite, so I wouldn’t be shocked if BC won the conference. Bill O’Brien is one of the top offensive coaches in the game and Castellanos is dynamic. Their defenses looks better than expected.

Didn’t they steal the QB recruit from Pitt? He’s not starting now?

Bill O'Brien has BC looking pretty damn good. Thomas Castelanos (sp?) is a player and the OL is good as always. They're going to be a tough out for most teams that play them.

How do you make quality of victory two games in?

There’s obviously a certain projection to what the team did last season, how much it returns, what it added, with some recency bias sprinkled in.

Would Pitt be ranked if they beat UTEP and Colorado ?

minchey, he's on the bench im assuming. true freshman i think. no clue their QB depth chart but the duke qb is in the cross heirs after their loss to NIU.

Kenny Minchey is a redshirt freshman. (played in 3 games last year) He's 4th team on the depth chart. I don't know what they intend to do if they bench Riley, but the Domers seem to think CJ Carr is their future QB.

If they were ranked or getting votes to begin with, uh ya they would. But that is not how it works 2 games in for teams starting with no votes that went 3-9 last year and on the surface made no great strides in the off season....
Try again.

BC being ranked to help justify Missouri's #6 ranking when they beat them this week since murray st , buffalo, and Umass dont exactly scream hard OOC schedule.

Some that is also probably tied into Rhule.
Everybody keeps talking about what he does in Year 2 at programs.

So he beats Colorado pretty easily, and everybody is saying, “here we go again for Year 2 under Rhule” and the pollsters are getting out ahead of it.

made no great strides in the off season....Nebraska brought in the #1 QB in the land (kind of smells like a stride) and polls are based on perception (as they have always been and not out to nail Pitt to the cross)...ya. once again, Try again. I'm here all week, try the veal.

Perception is only an opinion, who says Pitt didn't make any strides this offseason ?
You came at me , all I said is that if Pitt had the same resume as Northern Illinois they wouldn't be ranked .
I guess you couldn't get into main campus and are angry and have to take out your frustration somehow.
