Perhaps they unorthodox style will confound Bacot?

They did good enough. But Fede despite some issues was really good again
Really Good is not what I would describe Fede today. The man he covered shot 8-14, had 22 and 13 boards including 5 offensive. Bacot ate him up. He show 2-7 and blew a dunk and a couple easy layups. On the year she shoots 70% so this was a bad game for him.

Really good isn't really what I wanted to say either. But what I meant despite the stats, I came away impressed. He just held his own at the right times.

He did. He failed to convert some easy ones, was muscled a bit = but was a big part of the offense and made some big defensive lays.

He is a keeper.

Stick to watching ECU hoops. Fed was very good in the second half. Look at Bacot’s game logs going back to FEB22 and then get back to us Pitt fans.

He is definitely a keeper. I was expecting talib zanna from his freshman or soph year and instead we got talib's jr/sr year. But we can't expect him to shut down bacot, but i hope he can be more of a speedbump next time

How bout I stick to watching both. And continue to post whatever opinion I want of my team. I've been a fan for 40 years so I'm good. Bacot exceeded his averages today. Nobody said he was bad, but he wasn't really good. He had 8 points and 6 boards 2nd half

February seems an odd place to be going back to, but in the 31 games (counting today) that he's played since the beginning of February today was his 7th highest scoring total and his tied for 16th highest rebounding total.

Federiko played a lot better in the second half, but that was in part due to the fact that he was pretty bad in the first half.

Sure, but he held his own, especially in the second half and for this team in this game, that was more than enough. I was impressed with how his defense improved as the game went on. You could "feel" him gaining confidence.

If I recall, many used the word "serviceable" in describing Fede before anyone got to really see him play. He has been better than that by leaps and bounds. This team would be nowhere near as effective without his presence at both ends. His ability to hedge on the ball screens and then recover has been the biggest reason our team defense has improved. He has been a godsend, and along with the shooters Capel brought in, the reason this team is progressing. He is the best 5 we have had here in quite awhile and he should only get better.

A lot of good thoughts
in this thread on Fede's
play. As I see it...... he's
improving and obviously
gaining confidence. He's
nowhere near a finished
product, but for now he's
maintaining an inside
presence for us more than
being a liability. Here's a
quick reminder....remember
where we were last yr
when Hugley was off the
floor. Repeat after me,
COLLIER. Fede has made
a huge impact from where
we were, and it's obvious
that he's not only getting
better, but is going to be
MUCH better.

He absolutely held his own in the second half. Which is about all that we could have reasonably hoped for.

The first half? Not so much.

Bacot looked gassed in the 2nd half, which I'm sure helped make Federiko look better in that half. If Bacot was in better shape, he could have gone for 30 pts.

On the flip side, Fede deserves some credit. I imagine part of the reason Bacot was gassed was Fede's style of play -- not standing in a spot on offense but constantly running out past the arc and setting screens, running up and down the court well, etc. Bacot had to work at both ends of the court which isn't easy for a big.

I think the level he’s played at has been a surprise to pretty much everyone - including the staff. Remember that they played Hugley for like 30 minutes against Michigan when he clearly wasn’t all the way back. If they played that game today, I think they’d trust Fede more against Dickinson.

I think defensively he is somewhere in the middle of that thought. Not quite Talib in total as an upperclassman, but better than Talib as an underclassman.

He plays hard and is solidly longer than Talib was. He just lacks size like Talib did early on. If he puts some good weight on, he will be on the better defenders in college basketball in upcoming years. A guy that teams avoid.

He is completely different player than Talib was offensively though. Not those perimeter skills. In a way, it is good because he plays within himself near the hoop (which evidently is a newer thing for him, but still something that means a good deal).

I am a big fan of the kid. He has been a lot better than anyone thought. I guess we should have known when Huggins recruited him.
