I hope not.
He's mostly been a position coach, and he's good at it.
-he was OC for UCF, but was demoted to a position coach in 2009 after the team went 4-8.

He's capable to doing the job next Monday, but with the $ resources available...Duzz should get someone with a lot of play calling experience (since most of us think that was a major point of contention between he and chaney)

under nordy/smiley i would expect this. not now, i don't expect the cheap hire. chaney was the highest paid assistant, narduzzi has money to spend.

2 OC stints and coached QBs in 5 places. Getting the right guy, regardless of where you find him is more important than hiring the guy that costs the most. It is narrow minded to say Salem would be a bad hire just because Pitt could get someone who would cost more.

Narduzzi isn't about to put his program in jeopardy by hiring someone just because he is friends with him. He may very well hire someone we don't know about. But if he hires Salem it will be because he believes he is the right man. Period!

True. Plus Narduzzi mentioned that Salem would call the plays for the bowl game. He was then asked if he would be considered for the OC job. He said yes. He can't really say no in that situation.

Narduzzi also mentioned that Barnes and Gallagher went "above and beyond" to try to keep Chaney, so Salem will get hired ONLY if he is the right fit; meaning, Pitt will do what it takes to get a good OC.

I hope one exhibition game's outcome wouldn't be the deciding factor in this decision, in either direction.
Absurd to think that it would be. Guy coaches for decades, and you evaluate his abilities for a promotion on a fill in role for a single game? He won't be designing an offense or coaching players in its execution. All he will be doing is holding the hand of Chaney's offense for one game.
