Nobody has been looking forward to the PSU game in September more than me. For years I have dreamed of a renewal of the series--- I am one of those "I would happily go 1-11 if that one win is over Penn State" guys. But at this point I would have no problem with Pitt cancelling the game outright and taking a loss by default rather than staining our home field with the stench of child abuser apologists. I would be 100% on board with that position-- heck, I would hapilly pay twice the price to watch us play Duquesne in an exhibition game rather than play PSU.......disgusting behaviour from a dissapointing group of people. We are..... In need of perspective. #remembertherealvictims

The only people that would be unfair to would be the players. They came here to play games and be on the national scene as much as possible. I also have thoughts of the fans protesting and not going, but then again, all you do is screw the Pitt athletes.

You're really in a lose-lose situation right now. People demanded this game because it's some "rivalry" in their minds and they got a pile of shit landing on their face. Hopefully we can now put this series to bed for good after these next 4 years and nobody will ever ask to play PSU again.

Get a clue. How would Pitt canceling this game and forfeiting in any way help those kids or further hurt Ped State's reputation.

They would only beat their chest and claim Pitt cancelled to avoid the beat down they were going to inflict on us.

Heck, no. Attend the game. Cheer for Pitt - loudly.

If you feel the need to express yourself, wear a "Joe Knew" shirt or button if you see one for sale.

Three words for 9/10/16:
BEAT THEIR BUTTS!

Once and if we win PITT fans should leave the stadium chanting "Joe knew & so did you."

Unfortunately I cannot cheer from my spot, if I were in the stands I'm certain my voice will be gone for a few days after...

HAIL TO PITT !

That strategy falls right into the nitters hands. They want to win this game more than Pitt does. In some twisted way, winning this game would some how vindicate them. Go to the game and cheer your asses off...

LOL, yeah right! Ridiculous thought! Biggest game in 20 years, BIGGE$T PROFIT to be made! That trumps your STUPID morality play.

I would expect that this will be a nationally televised game. Emotions will be high because of the rivalry and what happened at PSU. We as Pitt fans imo should be thinking of what is best for our university and what we can do to best support our team and coaches not what can we do to smear PSU.

The whole country knows about what happened in central Pa. and are disgusted at what happened there. Only a small group of cult members
keep this at boiling temperature by living in denial and making headlines for themselves.

Some of you sound as bad as the cult does. Football first.

Damn right! PITT football 1st! PITT football shouldn't have to cancel relevant money making games because of JoePa and Sandusky! PITT football shouldn't LO$E THE MONEY this game should bring in! Cancelling this game punishes PITT football along with dead guys and guys in jail already. PITT football has done nothing to be punished for. And PITT football OWES NOTHING to the victims! NOTHING! It's ridiculous that the NITTERS are in denial and see nothing wrong, and some of you pusssies want to punish PITT football because they won't punish themselves.

I think for the first time ever I agree with you.

I feel horrible for the victims. And the people that did this are all gone, either in prison or have passed on.

If you really want to make an impact, donate to child abuse charities and help create awareness through various programs.

But as for this football game, all of the players, coaches, etc, and especially on the Pitt side, the fans, had absolutely nothing to do with this. Should we cancel games against UNC, UVA, Clemson, FSU, Miami, GT, etc because their ancestors owned slaves?

No. The people involved in the crimes are either in jail, fired, or dead.

I want to watch Pitt vs PSU.

Winner. No one currently at Penn State has anything to do with what happened. Do they defend and stick up for Paterno? Yes, but that is what families do. They don't want to believe. I have never witnessed a Penn State fan stick up for Sandusky(the guy who committed the crimes). I have witnessed them fail to believe their coach was not the god he thought he was. That is not a reason to cancel a game against James Franklin and a bunch of kids who were not even around or alive for that matter when this happened.

ok, everybody to the Dr. Pepper theme..."I'm a boycotter she's a boycotter, wouldn't like to be a boycotter too".... enough already with the boycotts of everything... Its a freaking football game and by the looks of the attendance of most home games we do a pretty damn good job of boycotting ourselves....

And to be honest, I truly think we haven't heard the end of this. I'm sure that for awhile more details of their crimes will come out as time passes. But to me, it's not worth obsessing over. Are we going to cancel games every year? Hold ANNUAL candle light vigils for the next wave of victims that finally "comes out", you can't pull Sandusky's "thing" out of them retroactively, it's over, it's done. Move on, I for one will enjoy this game vs. PED State, and in all honesty, if I didn't read this board, I wouldn't even think about JoePa, Sandusky or the victims.

Then the same should be said for PoSU football. Only the cult deserves to be punished, the current coaches and players at PoSU had nothing to do with it. Too many people here want it both ways. Either you think PoSU football should be punished and boycott the game, or if you believe that Pitt football should not be punished for this one game then neither should PoSU football for ANYTHING.

Btw there will be your children at the game. Shouldn't you set a good example for them. Be better than those who committed the crimes and have been persecuted.

You guys and gals are nuts . those who have never sinned be the one to cast the first stone.
Oh I've sinned plenty, but honestly it doesn't come close to what happened in the Valley of Happiness.

My belief in humanity has been taken down a level by the hatred. It's a damn football game. It doesn't mean anything in life. Paterno has been judged, Sandusky will be judged, Joes family will be judged, your all falling into what the news loves, chaos. Relax watch a game have fun. We're all brothers and sisters in this world. My word, please show you are better.

We should all just hold hands and sing Kumbaya huh? No thanks. I can't speak for everyone here, but I am by no means brothers and sisters with the likes of cultists who helped foster and continue to defend the culture that enabled your school's atrocities any more than I am with those that perpetrated any of history's evils.

The cultist culture of hero worship and self-victimization that slaps the face of abuse victims everywhere continues to bear its rotten fruits. There is nothing redeeming about failing to call out evil and injustice or burying one's heads to existing problems just to have a pleasant day at a game.

If people show up at Heinz with JoePa t-shirts and 409 stickers, and mouth off about being victimized by the media and NCAA, then they deserve to suffer whatever consequences and indignities that they bring upon themselves. If Penn State fans just show up and cheer for their team like normal human beings then I hope there are no incidents and Pitt fans should not go to the game looking to create them either. However, based on my experience with the absolute nut jobs that infest the central part of the state I know that hope is unfortunately most likely pure fantasy.

For myself, I did not want the previously scheduled games cancelled because I didn't want to make the University of Pittsburgh part of the revolting story when it broke in 2011, but I was adamant against scheduling any more games, or frankly, any further interaction between the two institutions at any level. I was extremely disappointed when the series was extended and I hope it dies until the culture that pervades Centre County is completely upended. Originally being from Central PA region, I will never again spend a dime in Centre County. Therefore, I will never attend an away game there, but I will not be chased out of our own stadium because of the vile deeds and behavior of the visiting institution, coaches, fans, and administrators.

This really is a disgusting statement. Your "belief in humanity has been taken down a level" because Pitt fans see the reality of the situation? That really is an unbelievable statement, considering what happened with your football program and University, but unfortunately completely consistent with the attitudes of many PSU fans. You are all concerned with everything but the one thing you should be most concerned with. MY belief in humanity has been taken down a level because of this.

I agree, I can't wait for the game this year! I would hate a bunch of self righteous pusssies messing this up.

Yes....we should point out which fans to avoid like ebola.

I don't have a problem not playing the game. They put football over children--someone canceling their precious game because they shouldn't be allowed to field a team is the only action that can affect them. Sure it is terrible for the kids to miss a game- but thirty years from now they may have a different outlook on it-- teams have forfeited games for lesser reasons.

Ordinarily I am not one to get on a soapbox-- but I would be on board sending a message just this once. That said, I hope we beat them 60-0. HTP

I want the game played, but I certainly understand those that want it cancelled.

Given your responses on the board, and the fact you have advocated on a constant basis for Pitt to out and out cheat, I have to highly question your moral compass.

Wrong. The victims are around and I assure you, no one will stand up in the middle of a game and proclaim "I survived Jerry" as do victims of diseases.
I agree with your decision BTW...I just don't agree that those involved are in jail or dead.

Okay - fair enough. Since it is just a game, PS should instill its own self sanctions on their football program to send a message that protecting children > winning football games.

I would agree with your opinion were I convinced that the Penn State crowd held the belief that this is "just a football game". But time after time I am reminded that it is much more than that to a large and loud portion of PSU folks.
But I don't see where cancelling anything serves any useful purpose. People are free to do as they please. If they elect to create a self imposed ban, then fine by me. But that is a personal choice.

The last time that I checked, their current president recently sent-out a letter that got a lot of peoples' attention - and not in a positive way. The new president is acting like the old president, or.....as The Who sang, "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss..."
