I recognize this as English, but I have no idea what this mean.
Probably not my best grammatical work, but if you were between 6 and 18 in 1995, you probably understand it.

I wasn't criticizing, more a jab at myself for being "unhip".Probably not my best grammatical work, but if you were between 6 and 18 in 1995, you probably understand it.
uh..yeah, he most certainly is one of the biggest rappers on the planet. unless you are being cute and meaning he isn't fat.
Hey burnie...go find something else to do besides writing on this board! ThanksHe is not one of the biggest rappers on the planet; he is nowhere near the level of someone like Kanye West or Jay-Z. Moreover, if he really were one of the biggest rappers on the planet, how come his mere presence didn't fill the building?
Ummmm, yes, he is.- The idea definitely did not come from this board;
- Wiz Khalifa is not one of the 'biggest rappers on the planet';
- Pitt should not 'contract with famous fans;
- Wiz Khalifa : Ashley Judd, LOL; and
- Wiz Khalifa is not 'one of the biggest recruiting advantages we have'.

Or Canned Heat.Old timers would prefer a Bobby Vinton concert.

If they had more than a day to get the word out, the place would have been full.
My guess is without Wiz, it would have substantial less...with the lack of buzz going into the season, maybe 1000 or less. Students at the game said they got in line at 8:30 and that many in their line were there just to see Wiz.
From what I heard (and this is hearsay so I don't know if it is true), Wiz performed for free.
Talked to someone close to the team...expect the defense to be much better this year. A return to more of what we've come to expect. And we'll have a capable center.
Maybe Wiz performed for free, but I'd guess they had to put out a few dollars to bring in Jay Williams.
Otherwise, I agree with your thoughts about attendance and Wiz. And even if the did pay for it, good for them. Whatever it takes to get more students to begin to connect with Hoops is good.
It's not often that I walk out of athletic department events thinking "that was well done!" But that's what I thought of the event on Friday.
Wiz has quietly been doing some local philanthropic work lately including a visit back to Allderdice. I know he was on tour for a while so it could be he is here taking some time off and the timing of the event on Friday was serendipitous.Absolutely had to pay Jay, but no one was making the decision to go to this event to see Jay Williams.
Lets put it this way...Wiz Khalifa doesn't need to do small scale side gigs like this. Even if Pitt paid him, I'm guessing it was because Wiz wanted to do it more than he was looking to make some extra scratch. If he did this gratis, kudos to Khalifa, and hopefully we'll get him involved with more Pitt events...maybe get him to show up for some recruiting events. I remember the story of Danny Fortson's recruitment with Calapari (at UMass) picking him up in a limo with Maria Carey inside (obviously didn't work, but still).
The event started at 11 PM. J Williams of ESPN was the MC. He introduced the women's team first, each player came from behind the stage onto the stage doing a little dance move while they were applauded. Then the men's team was introduced. Same thing with them. Then there was a brief skills competition. The four teams were captained by Brandin Knight, Tray Woodall, Brianna Kiesel, & Shayla Scott. Each team consisted of A combination of current men's and women's players, and the captains. Each team was timed on completing a layup, free throw, 3 – pointer, and half-court shot. All of that lasted about 10 minutes. Then Wiz came on and performed for 15–20 minutes. It was good that they saved him for last, because that's what most of the kids were there to see. I hate rap, grew up on hair metal, but I really enjoy the whole night. I'm sure that the football and basketball recruits had a great time.Can anyone give a brief description of the event? Thanks
So I guess Wiz is appropriately named??Wiz got paid, but he definitely wanted to do the event. I'm glad he did because the students loved it and it was the first "cool" thing we've done in a looooong time.
