Terrell Brown one rebound in eight minutes in the first half, Kene Chukwuka grabbed eight in 26.

Not to make Brown look bad, just that Chukwuka deserves praise for his improvement.

Kene has decent enough size and his effort got him a few layups. Looked good finishing those too. Still lost a few easy rebounds however. Brown Had a disappointing game.

I have a feeling these two are going to be inconsistent all year. Looks like Capel is smart enough to ride the hot hand.

Have a feeling Chuk will get a slight majority of the playing time down low. Great energy and aggressiveness.
Someone has to hold down the fort till the cavalry [Akok, Wahab?] get here.

Chuk also stayed in the paint and didn't try to shoot three pointers. Because of that, he was much more effective. He also did a good job hedging on defense. Him and the guards really shut down penetration to the rim. That was a welcome sight, because every team we played against last year had guards that got to the rim.

I hate to give up on Brown this early but he hasn't improved at all. He has some offensive skill but he's slow, timid, unaggressive, unathletic, cant jump, and has slow reactions. I can see him transferring to a lower league. I think he can be a 13-14 PPG game guy in a league like the NEC playing against 6'8 centers

I think Brown could be acceptable if he was teamed up with another strong post player. He looks like he has some offensive skills but if he is your lone post defender, well it’s just not going to work for you.

If we could team him with a low post banger, have him shoot some 7-8 foot jumpers against an opposing PF, that could work.

Going to need Brown and Stevenson to improve quickly for this Pitt team to pull off any upset of a decent team this season. It was only one game so anything can happen, will see how Frame changes the rotation on Friday.

I'm super encouraged by the freshman but damn do they need a PF and C.

I really wanted to believe Brown was going to make a leap. I thought towards the end of last year he was coming on a little bit and showing some improvement on what was otherwise a lifeless team.

I expect more minutes for Kene simply because if Brown is not rebounding strong it is not worth having him out there for simply mediocre offense considering the guards will do the majority of the scoring. But I still hope Brown will be the guy. I'd like to see him tinker with the lineup and play Kene at the 4 and Brown at the 5 for some of these cupcakes but we will see. Capel knows he can't afford to drop an easy one early in the year.

Yea. I can see him being an OK 4, maybe a very poor man's Levon Kendall if he had a good 5 to play next to

I think some top level bigs are going to want to join Pitt to play with those freshman guards !

don't give up on brown after 8 minutes of hoops. he had ups and downs last year, Kene was a shocker to me last night. different player. as pointed out above, playing the game the right way, in the paint, hedging, boxing out, setting picks. Kene will be a very important player this year. this year will be challenging, I would take the over on 12 wins though. we get 2 top bigs for next year, we have a shot to really compete in the ACC, top half.

I would be thrilled if Kene plays with the same intensity that he did last night. We just need 2 more other interior players to step it up. They need to understand their main role is to rebound and defend.

Brown has gotten 18 minutes in each game so he is getting a shot at developing.

On the other hand, Stevenson seems to be "on the outside looking in." He appears to be in Capel's dog house for some reason (lack of effort in practice?). He simply isn't earning any PT. What has he gotten? He only played 2 minutes vs UPJ and 6 minutes last night (without Frame available). Had Frame played he might again have only gotten the 2 minutes he had against UPJ. So, it would appear Stevenson is guaranteed to be a "non-contributor" for the entire season factor"

I am very encouraged about Capel and his staffs coaching ability when I see the improvement in Kene's game. actually have him playing smart basketball. has him playing the way Jamie Dixon would have ::)

Kene in the paint = much more effective than Kene on the perimeter

He got some rebounds and was able to get the ball near the basket and finish. I want more of that.

With a very good C, Kene might be a good guy to have at PF to help rebound and get some put back points. As it is now, there is so much more talent among the guards and wings that it's necessary to have four of them on the court. Can't afford to have both Kene and either Brown or Peace on the floor at the same time.

Chukwuka definitely plays with a lot of energy. I think his upside is limited along with the rest of our bigs but at least Chukwuka is giving max effort the whole time.

We really need some bigs though. It is a glaring weakness.
Isn't everyone's upside limited ?

Shocking, a massive overreaction from you!

One game...I liked what I saw out of Johnson and McGowens, but I won’t call them all ACC players, just like I won’t throw brown under the bus after one game.
