Because he couldn't recruit when he was here. He went with Calipari to Memphis and magically started pulling in players.
It depends on which school is willing to skirt the law and pay players and handlers and parents and which one pays more. Obviously, Illinois will be paying Brown or his posse more than we are willing to pay.
He's getting everybody from Big East/ACC country to come to the middle of nowhere and play in the Big Ten.
Brad Underwood is a really good coach
His top assistant was also busted at Ok State for buying players, Lamont Evans. And Underwood bailed on Ok. State in one season. It was said his job is in trouble in Illinois. Now with Antigua they are getting players. Its fishy.
Remember I mentioned his poor-ish comments on PSN site a month ago. He didnt seem to have the love for Pitt, and said he 'liked the way Illinois recruits', which seemed to me to indicate $$... but who knows really. Just he didnt ever seem like a Pitt lean at all to me.
Of course they are skirting the rules, and we should be doing the same. Just like we did when Cal and Miller were assistants at Pitt.
His job is not in trouble at Illinois.
The Illini have been slowly getting better all season. They are relatively young and I expect them to be quite good next year.
