Im not familiar with race times... Does he have a shot to eventually be an Olympian in the 400 or no? Thanks in advance.

Great question. IMO he is getting very close. He has to run under 45 for an open 400. He has done this in a relay so it's in him. If he does not make it as an open 400 runner he very well could make the relay.

I think you are spot on Greg, biggest problem is the amount of quality depth the USA has in the 400. You got
to figure Lashawn Merritt will be #1 or #2 in the world for the next few years, then you have 2013 World Silver medalist
Tony McQuay and Florida soph Arman Hall part of the 2013 USA world gold medal team. Then you have Byshon Nellum
Josh Mance , Manteo Mitchell, David Verburg (Olympic and/or World championship medals in the relay from 2012 and 2013).

Key is to be peeking and have his best race at the USA track and field champion trials.

The third place the finisher in last year's USA Track and Field championships ran 1:43:97, I think his personal best time is 1:53:14, it would very difficult to improve 10 seconds.

I think his best shot at making an Olympic or World championship team is going to be in the 400m, his personal best time is not that far off. Plus with the 400m they take a few more runner's after the top 3 for the 4 x 400 relay.

Was that 800 time indoors??

I'd guess he's barely top 25 outdoors this year in the quarter (I'm old school....). He's had some good times indoors, where a smaller guy has an edge.
It makes me puke that the local rags didn't recognize these kids. But a kid getting a FB scholie to Clarion is a BFD.

I agree the local paper's should have ran an article about them, I'm still holding out hope that they do this week.

He was actually 6th in the 400m 45.46 before this past weekend dropped to 7th now that World Champion Lashawn Merritt ran his 1st 400 of the season at the Drake Relays 44.44)

His 800m 1:53:14 was an indoor time.

It will be interesting to see how he does at the NCAA championships in June and hopefully the USA track and field championships at the end of June.
