Combining both days, because the amount of bubble-related games is light the next two nights. Pitt moved up one spot in the NET yesterday, from 52 to 51. Any day Pitt can move up without playing is a good day. I think five of the Bubble Watch games yesterday went Pitt's way.
-----------------
Iowa (15-8, NET 34) at Purdue (22-2, NET 4) - 7:00pm, ESPN2
- Iowa is one of those teams that will maybe get a higher seed than Pitt, despite being a much lesser team. While a loss at Purdue won't hurt their chances of making the tournament at all, a win will make them a virtual lock. So... Go Boilermakers!
Northwestern (16-7, NET 52) at Ohio State (11-12, NET 41) - 8:00pm, FS1
- Logic would dictate that we should root against Northwestern because they are literally right next to us in NET. But Pitt's blowout win at Northwestern is one of Pitt's best games of the season, so we don't want that win devalued. Neither of these teams are going to take Pitt's spot in the dance, so.... Go Wildcats!
Arizona State (16-8, NET 70) at Stanford - 10:00pm, FS1
- If the PAC-12 hopes to get more than 3 teams in the tournament, they need Arizona State to win this game. ASU's analytics are horrible, and they need to stack wins. Go Cardinal!
USC (17-6, NET 50) at Oregon (14-10, NET 53) - 11:00pm, ESPN2
- This is the biggest bubble game of the night, and both teams need this win desperately. Oregon needs it more than USC. USC is probably in the tournament already, and Oregon needs a strong finish to get in. From Pitt's perspective - if you think Pitt (NET 51) might end up on the bubble - we want Oregon to lose. Plus USC has the best-looking cheerleaders in the universe. So.... Go Trojans!
New Mexico (19-5, NET 38) at Air Force - 9:00pm FRIDAY, FS1
- This is one of two important MWC bubble-related games Friday night. This one is easy... Go Falcons!
Fresno State at Nevada (19-6, NET 31) - 11:00pm FRIDAY, FS1
- Fresno State is... not very good. But if they were to pull off the upset here, it could help Pitt in seeding. So.... Go Bulldogs!
