Why do I need to clarify to you? I said what they need to do and have happen 6 times rainmanSo 1 Q1 win and they're in?
You’re weighing too much into Q1 wins and discounting Q2 when you didn’t even know what NET was 14 days ago

They are 0-8 in Q1. I hate to agree with Lunardi as even he had them as the 1st team out before yesterday but he said if they weren't called North Carolina, would they even be talked about as a bubble team? 0-8 is really bad. What if Pitt was 0-8 in Q1? They play ND, UVa, FSU, Duke. I think they need to win out. If they dont win out, they probably have to make at least the ACC Final.
A good Cinderella story draws in viewers as well.
Yep. Not particularly close either. St Peter’s got good ratings in the sweet 16 though. It does, but as has been shown time and time again, games with the blue bloods get better ratings than games with Cinderellas.
So Lunardi says that they wouldn't even be a bubble team without the name on the front of the jersey, and then he proceeds to call them the first team out.
And some of you guys live and die every day with that kind of stupidity.
Yea it was a weird statement because he basically admitted their name was the only reason he had them as the 1st team out.
If he had the courage of his convictions he'd have said they were out and they weren't even really close, and he would have explained his reasoning. But he just can't bring himself to do it.
Remember that the next time you see, "well Joe Lunardi said...."
In his defense a little bit, maybe he meant like their name and their name only causes you to look past their 0 Q1 wins and terrible road record. Like if they were called Boston College, wouldn't you just say "no Q1 wins, terrible road record, forget it" and they'd be like the 15th team out. But their name causes you to look a bit deeper and you see they are good in Q2, no bad losses, and SOS of 8.
We need Dickie V shouting “if you can’t go at least .500 in your conference you don’t deserve to be in the tournament.”Stronger bubble. WVU is currently on the bubble at 4-10 in conference
If teams like FAU and Charleston lose in their tournaments and have to take at large bids, it becomes different.
Glad to see Scott Barnes is still a loser. There are only four teams in D-I who have played more quad 1 games than UNC and are still winless.
Villanova 0-9
California 0-9
Georgetown 0-10
Oregon State 0-11
Surely they're not THAT desperate for ratings?
I don't have a say, but I do agree with Dickie V: a team that has a losing conference record doesn't deserve to dance. We need Dickie V shouting “if you can’t go at least .500 in your conference you don’t deserve to be in the tournament.”
I said this in a thread 1-2 weeks ago. The tourney committee back then had to be getting nervous thinking about having to put together a bracket without Kentucky, UNC , Michigan or OSU in it. Since then Kentucky’s played themselves back in, and UNC will probably be in unless they really implode the rest of the way out. But OSU’s now definitely out and likely the same with Michigan.
If it's your job to do what he does, why on earth would you ever overlook someone just because of the name on the front of their jersey? It's not like he has 8 million teams to consider and it's just not possible to get to them all. It's really not that difficult at all to look over the resumes of teams that might be in consideration.
Essentially you are defending him by saying it's OK for him to not do what his actual job is. Either way, remember that the next time someone quotes him as some sort of authority.

That would kill the B12.I don't have a say, but I do agree with Dickie V: a team that has a losing conference record doesn't deserve to dance.
I think Lunardi is a dope. I just think he means that their name makes someone take a deeper dive. Like if they were called BC, you click out real quick once you see 0 Q1 wins. But since its UNC, you spend a few more minutes just to look at everything and you see the resume besides Q1, is very bubblish. So their name makes people do that deeper dive is what I think he means but who knows, he's an idiot.
I get everyone is nervous as hell because it’s been a long time .Wrong, per usual. 3-1 and 1 win in ACC and no FAU or Charleston upsets and they’re a lock
I think that post was in reference to UNC’s chances.I get everyone is nervous as hell because it’s been a long time .
But this is getting silly
We are safely in
It would take an enormous collapse - like losing out badly
To even move to the wrong side of the bubble
We were speaking about UNC. I don’t have any fear of Pitt making itI get everyone is nervous as hell because it’s been a long time .

Living in the middle of OSU country, which is essentially the entire state, I’d say you’re wrong. But nothing ever stopped you from making definitive claims about things you don’t really know about before so oh well.Ohio State hates basketball. They dont sell out games even when they are good. And they brought like 1000 fans to PPG last year. No one in Columbus is watching basketball during Buckeye Spring Football Season.
My bad.I think that post was in reference to UNC’s chances.
They seem to like it pretty well when the team is good. Funny how that works. Wonder if there are any other programs like that?Ohio State hates basketball. Yeah. A 6% dip can certainly be directly attributed to UNC not making the tourney. Those UNC fans were right.
Measured
Lol of course you do. The drop in the final four will be even more significant from last year with all blue bloods.Yeah. A 6% dip can certainly be directly attributed to UNC not making the tourney. Those UNC fans were right.
All that craziness and we only saw a 6% insignificant drop? I think my point still stands.
You’re projecting. This isn’t hard. UNC missing the tourney is not a ratings disaster as UNC fans stated. The fact is, no one team’s absence is going to impact ratings in any measurable way. Your coming in and citing a 6% dip in ratings after multiple upsets and multiple big branded teams losing does nothing to refute the original point.Lol of course you do. It was measured. Blue bloods affect ratings. You were wrong. It’s ok. I was wrong onceYou’re projecting. This isn’t hard. UNC missing the tourney is not a ratings disaster as UNC fans stated. Now, maybe some UNC fans aren’t going to watch this year. That’s to be expected. But if a segment of one teams fans measurably impacts overall ratings, then overall viewership of the sport isn’t that great to begin with.
Your point that millions and millions of people turned off their TVs after UNC’s occlusion on selection Sunday and didn’t turn the tourney on 5 days later is ridiculous.
You said blue bloods (plural). I said UNC (singular). If you need a lesson in grammar, let me know.It was measured. Blue bloods affect ratings. You were wrong. It’s ok. I was wrong once
2023 NCAA 1st round set records and had the highest ratings and viewership in history. Someone should have told all those viewers not to bother watching because UNC wasn’t playing. My point stills stands. It was measured. Blue bloods affect ratings. You were wrong. It’s ok. I was wrong once
Most of the lower numbers are snowed-in UCLA fans and married women who only watch Tony Bennett.Yeah. A 6% dip can certainly be directly attributed to UNC not making the tourney. Those UNC fans were right.
