Playing spoiler and winning the occasional big game against ranked opponents in dramatic fashion is nothing new. But what they need to do now is build on it, win more than 8 games and finish strong for once.
Every remaining game on the schedule is winnable. But every remaining opponent besides Delaware sees Pitt as a winnable game too.
After Saturday, what I really want to see from this program is to win 9 games - including the bowl - finishing strong to build some excitement, and get people to realize they should be returning a lot of their roster next year and a solid recruiting class.
Don’t get me wrong, 10-2 and another coastal title is obviously most ideal and the team’s goal. But thinking realistically, a margin of error of 2 more losses and winning the bowl would still feel like progress to me.
