Football is a rough and tumble sport played by rough and tumble people, some who play close to or over the edge. All teams have players who play close to the edge.
That being said this thug Burfict is as close to a Jack Tatum type guy as I have seen in a while. For you younger fans Tatum was an Oakland Raider out of tOSU who took great delight in trying to physically hurt defenseless players. He paralyzed Darryl Stingley of the Patriots with a hit to the head long after the pass sailed by and the whistle had blown. Broke the poor guys neck on National TV. He was also the guy who allowed the Immaculate Reception to happen by trying to knock out Frenchy Fuqua instead of doing his job which was to simply knock the ball down.
Burfict is a dangerous player. The league will suspend him for his hit on Brown coupled with a vicious Stingley type hit on a Raven receiver last week. The suspension will not be severe enough. They should kick this guy out of the league for at least a year before he kills someone. He is mentally deficient. At a minimum any suspension handed down should include both Steeler games next year as it is obvious he is out to hurt players in Black and Gold.
And if I were running the Bengals organization neither Burfict nor Pac Man Jones would be on my team today. The best players in the world can only hurt your team when they do the kind of stuff we all saw last night.
