They are a brainwashed cult so you can't reason with them. My in laws are nitters-pretty normal folks as long as you're not discussing Psu or the child sex abuse crimes/coverup. Then they all of a sudden turn into unreasonable wackos.
It is awful over there. They are truly so self centered that the place is delusional. They still think no one knows what happened but it is clear they all knew but really did nothing about it because of the damage to the reputation of the football team. It is a national fact.
I really wonder where the people over there come from. Even some penn staters I know that are completely bonkers are nowhere near as deranged as what you see on that board.
We have good friends who are the "reasonable" PSU fans - they believed Joe knew and were horrified by what happened. But even they have moved on. Unfortunately this is old news, folks. It's disgusting.
That's because 'reasonable' PSU fans are not really Joe blue bloods. Those that appear to have moved on are a ruse.
The people on BWI are not typical PSU fans. That site is bat sh*t crazy and the PSU fans I know do not talk or act like that. I just went over and looked at a few threads and there is most definitely a cultural problem with the people who post on BWI.

Yea the phrase "rush to judgement" is parroted by many PSU people I know that I considered to be normal prior to the scandal. Hero worship dies hard, I guess because they simply can't accept their accepted dogma wasn't the reality.
Because unfortunately whether kids get paid at a lot of schools or not, and they certainly did back then too, anything that may muddy the term "amateur athletics" is a huge PR problem for the NCAA. Might be even worse now with people being outspoken about the nature of the NCAA.
What's amazing is the complete lack of self reflection with them ... I mean honestly how far out of wack at the point is your life if you find yourself regularly defending this stuff over and over? Inventing paranoid delusional theories to back these bizarre stances.... how can't they just not stop and say whoa.... take some inventory on the situation and realize they've been played?

Outside central Pennsylvania, Paterno is always going to be viewed as a monster who looked the other way while children were being harmed. PSU is always going to be associated with this scandal. Once the crazies who were conned by Paterno for 50 years are gone, all that will remain will be the fact that his own school fired him and the administrators that worked alongside him were all either convicted or took a plea.

Maybe I should have been a little more clear. I meant that the Paterno is the real victim crazy conspiracy theories will die out once the Joebots are dead, not the school itself. Even the Joebots themselves acknowledge on BWI that the "over 50" crowd is well represented at many of the Cult's angry rallies. Those are people who were scammed by Paterno for 30. 40, 50 years, and can't accept the truth about what happened in State College.

What I can't understand is there are still BWI posters that keep the same mantra "all we want is the truth." What truth? They were tried and convicted of covering up child rape. It is clear that Joe knew and they did nothing until MM pushed the envelope. What truth are they referring to?
They want the John Ziegler truth. But, he can't come up with a shred of credible evidence. It's all his conspiracy theory they've all been dumb enough to buy.

Yep. Freeh report (whether the guy is credible or not)... that was biased, we want the truth! Clemente report (basically hired to somewhat clear paterno's name)..... look at his report! That sounds much more like what happened!
They don't want the truth, they want the story that makes higher ups (especially paterno) as innocent as possible. Anything else to them will always be considered "not the truth".
1000's of documents, 100's of pages of sworn testimony, 2 pleas, a jury trial and nobody uttered a single line exonerating him. Not even off the record. Joe knew in 98. He knew in 01. He was consulted every step of the way and went in agreement with the 3 guilty. Its over.
