Single-handedly carrying UNC over UCLA into the E8. At least points-wise. Some assist from Bacot and others down the stretch on defense, blocks, loose ball OB saves.

UNC seals the deal.

And there’s still a long way to go, but MIAMI-FLA up by 9 on ISU in the 2nd half. The mediocre ACC may get 3 teams in the final 8. Go figure….and in the time it took me to type this, lead us down to 5.

Incredible post season for the “terrible” ACC. It’s kind of funny, the ACC was not good early, but now is the only thing that matters and the ACC is going to have 3 teams in the Elite 8 and has a good chance of at least 2 in the FF.

With CBB having become so NCAAT-centric, so much is about a team peaking/streaking at the right time. Being healthy. Having gotten into a groove with a solid rotation. Staying out of foul trouble.

The trick is to be good enough from the start of the season so as to put yourself in a position to win enough to make the field even if a team is still figuring things out. Or getting healthy. So many of the NCAAT teams now are loaded with transfers. It can take time for things to gel.

But anyone with any understanding of CBB knows that there are VERY talented rosters and HC’s in the ACC. Those trashing the league early in the OOC schedule on sites like this and self-proclaiming they “know basketball” are 🤡s’.

Unfortunately, for Pitt right now, just being competitive in any particular game is a struggle. Making the NCAAT again looks like a pipe dream. Tough for us long time regulars who witnessed the good times under BH and JD to be on the outside looking in for this long now. And with as much talent as there is in the ACC, the climb up won’t be easy. Need to attract some of the RIGHT players, somehow. Guys with the individual talent but who can - and want to - WIN and play as a team.

Got a chance to watch him in high school when CBC came to Kansas City. He’s the real deal. Doesn’t back away from taking the big shot.

If you’re pulling for Cinderella, you better hope Saint Peter’s defense can frustrate him the same way they did to Purdue. UNC’s back court is much more athletic, though. Will be a fun matchup.

Love is a serious gunner. When he is on, it looks great. When he is not, he will keep firing and that could cost Carolina against St. Pete's. They will take care of the ball and limit possessions for Carolina. If they can keep Bacot from dominating them, this will be another tight game that St. Pete's could pull out at the end.

True. There were times last night when he was borderline reckless. Like lots of scorers, he is a streak shooter. But vs UCLA last night he was, for the most part, en fuego. He has no conscience and last night it paid off for UNC on the biggest of stages.

And Bacot, who really struggled almost the entire game, made 2 absolutely HUGE plays at the end. Really admire someone who is having a rough time but sticks with it all the way through and keeps trying regardless.

Carolina was fortunate that Love had the big 2nd half. That said, I think even with that big 2nd half, they would have lost if Juzang and Jaquez didn't go ice cold down the stretch.

That’s 1 and done basketball in a nutshell.
