Longtime lurker, infrequent poster. The venom that every post gets seems makes it not worth it in most cases. I was curious if this has happened to anyone else. Longtime season ticket holder, donate to the Athletic Fund and Alliance 412, but not in substantial amounts. My ticket rep has been calling asking for my renewal, I have been consistent that I most likely I will renew. but I need evidence that Pitt will be competive. I have kids at other ACC schools. My youngest is at UVA. They have received mutiple seven figure donations and have brought in 20+ portal players almost all of which are P4 and on paper are rated significantly higher than was Pitt has signed. Similarly, I have a junior at Wake. Obviously, they get the benefit of a new coach from Wash St. who is bringing a bunch of his players who are jumping off the Titanic at Wash St. Still, they have signed 3 P4 OL and lots of other talent, 20+ in total.
Yesterday, my rep calls again. I wouldn't have answered except I was expecting another call. He asked is I had a moment to talk to someone. I said sure and for the next 10 minutes I was speaking to Eli Holstein. What a great kid, easy to root for. He is all-in on Pitt, loves Bell and his system, promised me he is staying , and is convinced that Pitt will compete for the ACC title in 2025. He was working hard to get me to renew and increase my donation. It was quite enjoyable to talk to him.
Is anyone else getting these types of calls? It reeked of desperation as I would never expect the personal interaction given my status as a donor and season ticket holder. I nearly relented and renewed, but held firm and told him I am taking a wait and see approach. Not very optimistic in near term prospects of the football and basketball programs,
