Saying he came up big is an understatement. Kid made big time shots when the team was tanking that totally changed the momentum. Other than JROBs plays at the end, he was the only player that showed some guts when adversity struck.

Gotta hope this is the start of big things for this kid because this program needs someone with ice in their veins to hit big shots.

Why would JD start anyone else at the two...........everyone besides Cam has been awful. Thought CJ was turning the corner but hes gone back to being the passive player hes been for most of his career. Not sure why the other kid ever steps on the floor.

I posted after the LAST Cuse game: Cam Johnson was born and bred to beat the Cuse zone.

It's a game of matchups. Malachi Rchardson and Gbinije took Cam to the hoop a few times.
But, those who have been busting on Cam haven't been watching the last third of the season.
His game has been coming on nicely. Leading scorer AND rebounder today. 4/11 from 3-pt range is not a fluke. If he takes that many treys, he shoots that or better as his average. He's still a RS FR. If he contines to improve, Dixon can brush off his Ashton Gibbs offense and screens for a 6-7 shooter. He can be a real weapon.

That Luther/Johnson recruiting class looks a lot better today, huh?

Ill admit that I was not sold on Cam being a player at this level. Its only one game but it appears that I was wrong. Yeah he got beat a few times off the dribble but I also thought he played well defensively for the most part. What impressed me most today was that after he missed a few threes, he didnt hesitate to take the three later in the game when things were not going well. Thats been a problem for this team where a guy misses a few and things start going south for the team collectively and they then pucker up and become reluctant to take the shot. Cam just kept on firing.........Good shooters do that.......they have a short memory or no memory at all..

I like Cam and he absolutely came up big...but I don't get the "only player showing guts" part. Cam's a shooter, and today he had a hot hand. If he goes 0-8 tomorrow, will that be due to a lack of guts? Nah, just good days and bad, like all shooters not named Steph Curry...

Everyone played hard today. There were some lapses on D and some turnovers that put Cuse back in it. Artis and Luther both had bad turnovers, Jeter and JROB missed 1/1's. Everyone was on the floor all night. Cam just happened to make some big shots which is needed to win obviously, but everyone played hard.

Well, the point is kind of that he basically shot his average, or slightly below from 3-pt range. Maybe he ought to be shooting closer to 10 treys a game instead of 2.4, particularly if the offense isn't clicking.

Totally agree he needs to shoot it more!

A couple of his shots I was like ..."What are you doing.......YES!!!"

I hear he took the Maverick Rowan post to heart and was pissed. Thanks SMF!

Agree 100% Harve - like I said in the game thread - Cam needs a 24/7 green light from 3. It stretched that zone incredibly and allowed Pitt to work down low.

Ryan was pretty good, too. Not as spectacular, but really contributed.

I think CAM is taller than 6-7. I would guess he is closer to 6-8--at least 6-7 1/2, IMO.

I got ripped when I said that last week. He's still a puppy. Three more years for us, hopefully. Might be a better kid than player.

Probably just that Cam played so well in this particular game but a relative who is an NBA scout and watched today's game told me he thought Cam was the best NBA prospect on the team.

maybe him and Luther get more minutes next game

Cam played 32 minutes. I doubt that he will (or should) play more minutes than that.

Luther played 23. If he plays well, perhaps 5 more minutes could be in order.

Those 2 on the floor during the press was scary. Totally unprepared.
