I couldn’t care less about the band (and I was in the Pitt Band). But I do find it funny that they mostly play the same songs in the stands that they did 25 years ago.
Unless those pep band kids could come down and learn how to finish tackles instead of preparing to pose while watching the receiver race for 50 more yards I really don't see their importance.
Someone needs to explain to me how a university is willing to change the refrain in a 100 year old victory song because the fans used the refrain to deride its biggest rival…, talk about weak and pathetic … another nerdy/ Petersen decision that should have been reversed.

That's their best song along with "Snakes on a Plane." They wait until the game is almost over in the 4th to play it with an empty stadium and never get to finish it because of the piped in music.
I used to like that song. But thanks to them it’s overdone for me. You’d think they’d come up with something new after 2+ decades.

If you're talking about the Penn St sucks refrain....yes, I was totally in agreement with it. The refrain is silly and stupid. It gave too much attention to PSU. I came to Pitt not understanding it and the average PSU student wasn't that much focused on Pitt. That tradition needed to have been gone. It was embarrassing.
I know they play every year, but do you also find Alabama's chants during Dixieland Delight embarrassing?
Disagree … it was a 100 year old university anthem… only a couple of complete arrogant morons ignore and destroy an institutional tradition because of their puritanical views.

I agree with you and never got the love of adding PSU to the Pitt fight song. It was embarrassing to hear it at a Pitt BB game vs Georgetown in the early 90s. It would be more embarrassing now since we've played them 8 times over the last 30+ years and they aren't on our schedule.
It was stupid, just sing the fight song.
