Can you transfer portal back to your old school?

Chryst didn't take back Shell after he found out the grass wasn't greener on the other side

If a coach makes this stance then I fully expect them to not take incoming transfers from the portal either.

I like the stance, I really do. Fuentes or another coach says you are either 100% in or we don’t want you here. I see no problem with this. Just be consistent. You can’t take incoming transfers with this stance.

A little harsh. He said if you are not fully committed to the team, use the portal and don’t look back. Why would that preclude him from a player who is not fully committed to their current school, and VPI can be a perfect fit for any number of reasons. Playing time, academics, closer to home.
I don’t care for college free agency, but to give these kids some control over their lives is a good thing. They get a scholarship, which is great, but they are pawns in this game.

Because coaches like to have it both ways with zero consequences. They have enjoyed a lot of power over kids and really dislike that kids have an avenue to move on. The ACC just supported a measure that is gaining popularity that allows kids a "free" one-time transfer. I'm sure there's a bit more to it but Fuente probably won't be around much longer. I couldn't have been more wrong about a guy than I was about him.

I would think if a player left for a personal reason, family issue, and that issue gets resolved they would most likely be welcomed back.

Or if they were forced out like maybe a Tua situation, PT situation, but otherwise I doubt it.

Why? A player transferring from a program has their reasons. Bad fit, lack of playing time, etc... Why would you want a disgruntled player back? I don't see any problem with having it both ways provided you are honest with incoming transfers about the situation they are landing in

I think a player can continue going through the portal over and over.. one school to another school and back again until coaching staffs get bored and stop paying attention to all this “ beam me up Scotty “ shit...

This was well before the transfer portal, but I'm remembering when Al Golden began rebuilding the Temple program from rock bottom, one of the stars of his first recruiting class was a local (i. e., Philadelphia) kid named Daryl Robinson. After starting as a true freshman, Robinson inexplicably transferred to Fresno State, as I recall. After a year at Fresno and apparently not finding it to his liking, he tried to transfer back to Temple, but Alfred wasn't having any of it.
