Capel 2

Um Heather wanted him fired but was overruled because the buyout was too high. Capel sucked here for 4 years straight. I mean what don't you comprehend about all this? 99% of the board wanted Capel "pushed out" smh. And again for the 100th time if Hugley was playing we would be nowhere close to 21-8 and 14-4.
I wanted him gone too , but let’s not remember this .

He’s done a remarkable job this season and has proved that with the right players he’s a fine coach . He‘s found a formula that’s worked now we get to see if he can continue to find the right pieces . I choose to believe he can .

This team would be a better team with John Hugley on it . This wasn’t the teams of the past with no one who could shoot and Hugley was the major focus . Thinking that the coaching staff wouldn’t know how to use both Fede and Big John is selling them short .

Let’s not remember he took over a program that was the laughing stock of college bb that was striking out in their coaching search and convincing better players to come here virtually impossible.

Dude you lose all credibility when you keep claiming this team would be better with Hugley on it. No they wouldn't.

I don’t disagree with much of that. But I think the losses of Nelly, Burton and Elliott will be a lot more impactful than you seem to think. Those guards will be rookies and though talented as they may be probably not the kind of freshmen that can step in and play at a high level right away. This group has chemistry, closeness and cohesion led by the elder statesmen who have a lot of mileage on their tires and finally found a home where they’re not only wanted, but needed and in leadership roles. The next group may not have those underrated intangibles.

As always, the proof will be in the pudding.
There will be challenges no doubt , Dior while not playing is practicing with the team I believe and should be a little more advanced than a freshman . I’m sure guards and shooters will be sought in the portal . Time will tell .

If Pitt's +/- was better with Fede than Hugely, which it would be, I'd think coaches fighting for their careers would indeed play Fede more minutes than Hugely. Seemed like that was already happening and Hugely may have had a hard time accepting it due to other issues.

If Hugley was on this team and Fede was playing as he is, Hugley would be on the bench 80% of the time and only in to give Fede a breather and when the twins weren't producing. He's a liability on defense and that isn't acceptable to Capel now.

Where did I say this team runs through Hugley as it was last yr , having Big John gives them 10 fouls in the post and Fede is constantly in foul trouble . I love the twins , but they’re not the players Big John is now ( if healthy ) . I believe he‘ll be back and we’ll see .

The incoming freshmen, if they get here, won't have the maturity of the guys we're losing that helped this team get to first place in the ACC. You can never underestimate the importance of maturity. The losses are much more than the gains we might have with the incoming talent. But we'll see if Capel can mold next year's team into something similar to what we have this year. That is yet to be seen. The team is more important than any individual player, and this year's guys understand that very well.

I tend 2 agree with the 2 keys being as you said - a healthy/right Hugley who’s willing to accept a different role and play accordingly. If not then he’d absolutely be a risk as it seems pretty evident this team has chemistry despite it mostly being thrown together this year.

Congratulated Cashius. Did not congratulate Fede with the official pic he put on because I would not tweet a picture of the fradulent disgusting trump wannabe man he was with but did retweet the PsN article.

I wouldn’t put a picture of that fraud on my timeline for all of King Midas’ silver.

Anyhow I talk to Fede once a week and have been working with him to find a prep for his brother to attend and get the money together for an I20/flights for him.
Fair enough. I don’t know the dude you’re referencing or what his deal is, so I’ll just say I hope you help Pitt lane Fede’s brother!

Really? How do you know John wouldn't be bitching and complaining on the bench and in the locker room all the time about his reduced role? Which would almost certainly affect the team chemistry and might make nice humble guy Fede so uncomfortable he doesn't want conflict and tells Capel to play Hugley more. Or he doesn't do that but he's bothered by Hugley and his complaining and doesn't play as well.

Look there is no way Hugley sitting on the bench waiting to come in for a few minutes for foul trouble concerns would make this team better at all.

You’d think it would be easier under Biden to get these kids over but almost half the schools let their I20 status lapse during Covid. And the schools who still have it are charging much more for one. I need to create my own prep in Pittsburgh and apply for it.

Do your typical non-athlete exchange students need I20s?

I agree with this as well. I do not believe this team is better off without the guy that was its best player before this season. Some post scoring to go with the good shooting and strong perimeter play would add another dimension. Capel could still run his 5 out offense the majority of the game but could give it a different dimension with Hugley in. And with the way we space the floor and shoot Hugley would have less defensive pressure on him in the paint. Fede and Huggo could compliment each other.

I agree .

No team is better off with internal jealousy and bickering , but hopefully we’ll get a chance to see next yr .

He won't be back because he won't want to come off the bench. If he gets in shape and gets his mental health issues dealt with there will be some suitors for him to start. So why would he come back? Hasn't been on the bench at all in 2 months, his statement never mentioned he's coming back. He's gone.

You could be right or wrong time will tell . I believe Pitts better off with him and you can believe the opposite . They won’t cancel the season either way .
