Capel needs to talk.

He needs to explain what has happened to this team, this program on his watch. Then he needs to say what he intends to do to keep it from happening again. That’s what leaders do.

You act as though there aren’t a lot of other schools going through the same situation. We lost 2 good players - XJ and Toney. That’s the list.

I respectfully disagree, move on, not that he shouldn't address the situation internally, just that the turmoil between players or groups of players can't really be revealed or discussed publicly, so the explanation will only stir up problems.

Johnson is a backup on a good team. Toney is the only P6 level starter we lost but losing some of these guys hurts our depth. As below average as Coulibaly was, there's very little chance we will get a transfer better than him

These Chicken Littles on here freaking out over Brown, Drumgoole, and Coulibaly are amusing me in a way. They couldn’t stop bashing them when they played for Pitt, but all of a sudden they turned into Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Michael Jordan once they left.
I think for most the concern is more about the fact that the roster has been a revolving door. 5 players transferring out, one suspended and likely done, and the best player potentially heading for the pros.

I’m not great with math but that’s pretty much half the team and all 3 of the top scorers.

Not good. You can’t build anything that way.

Yep he will talk right after Narduzzi tells you why he hasn’t got past 8 wins in 6 years

Well, Narduzzi is a bit better than Capel as a coach in their respective sports. So what does that say about Capel when Narduzzi is not better than a career mediocre coach?

Leaders air dirty laundry to fans?

I'm not at all content with the current situation, or Jeff Capel. However, this isn't something he should do, needs to do, or will do.... ever. I also get a kick out of fans who always want "explanations" from Narduzzi. You aren't going to get details of any internal team issues or concerns. Nor should you.

Nope. This is true. They don't owe any of us an explanation. We can see it pretty clearly for ourselves, though. No explanation from a coach is necessary.

I agree, seriously, one or two players leave, maybe the players are bad news, but half the team leaves, I tend to think it's a bad culture and the coaches are the problem, or the school admin a/k/a woke egg heads.

that’s not the point. It’s a mass exodus, just like the Stallings era. We’ll see how many teams are replacing 7+ guys and win less than 5 conference games. Very small list and we’re on it.

This board notion that "this happens everywhere" and that this is "addition by subtraction" is so misplaced it's laughable.

yeah, a lot of programs have 2 of their top 3 starters transfer out during the season, and 3 more that transfer after that, along with a guy who's in criminal trouble and likely done, and one who might leave for the pros.

Also, the whole "addition by subtraction" thing ponly works if you replace outgoing players with better ones. Capel isn't even replacing them with warm bodies at this point.
