In 1993, Bobby McGowens and Jeff Capel faced each other in an all-star basketball game pitting the best of North Carolina against the best of South Carolina.

25 years later, McGowens and Capel crossed paths again. It was related to basketball, but this time, they came together not for an all-star game; instead, their interactions focused on a specific all-star:

Four-star point guard Trey McGowens, Bobby McGowens’ son and one of Capel’s top priorities since taking over as head basketball coach at Pitt last month. And on Tuesday, their futures became fully intertwined when the younger McGowens committed to Capel and the Panthers.
