CBS Sports Article-Pitt Expected to flip the switch back to Greatness, compete for Championship

Great Article!!!!!!!!!!!!
Must read for everyone.
Great find and Narduzzi will make it happen!

My Favorite Quote Excerpts:

"This was the right fit," Narduzzi said of his decision to leave Michigan State, where he had become one of the country's most successful defensive coordinators. "We had to have the right commitment. As a football coach, you can't do it all by yourself. We finally got the commitment to put in some things, spend some money and get to where we need to be in the ACC."It ain't about the money; I turned down the money four years ago. We got a lot of energy here. That's why our kids are excited about it."

AND

Whitehead, however, will tell you it's not the work done in the season but something that's started from day one since he was hired. "Outsiders just think, since Pitt used to be at the top, they're expecting things so soon come in and we'll be great. But a lot comes with that, player and coach chemistry," the safety explained. "I think Coach Narduzzi is at it every day, getting that chemistry down with every player. I think that's a big key in winning a championship in any sport. Right now, I feel like we're getting that. During the season, the chemistry that we're working on now is going to [make] that much of a difference in [advancing to] the ACC Championship."-- Coach Narduzzi

Good article. I agree with the underlying thesis that Pitt is investing and getting ready to step up to challenge for titles. I would slightly disagree relative to the timetable. I suspect it will take at least a few more years before we're really ready. The path to the top is hardly ever a straight line.

Could Pitt take the Coastal this year, get in the ACC Championship game? Sure.

Will it? Not as sure.

I think 2018 will be the year. Maybe 2017 but the defense should be an undeniable monster in 2018.

It seems like Narduzzi is building Pitt like a typical Big 10 team. Physical on the Offensive Line and physical on Defense.

As for Pitt's season, I'll know how good Pitt is when they play Penn State and Oklahoma State early. I think Pitt has a great chance of winning both of those games. And then Pitt is definitely in the right division to make a run at the Coastal Division Championship. The Atlantic Division is Top Heavy. But the Coastal Division is deeper in terms of there are fewer just plain bad teams in the Coastal than there are in the Atlantic. The Atlantic Division has Wake, BC and Syracuse who at least recently have been just plain bad football teams. I think that they'll turn it around but that takes time. The only real bad team in the Coastal has been Virginia. So the Coastal division is definitely up for grabs for anybody to win for sure.

If we beat Ok St at their place we should have really nice season. Frankly, I think that is a too tough for us on the road but will be fun to watch!
