It’s funny. I know there’s a few here who say college basketball is bad basketball, and I get that perspective. But I turned that game on last night and it was the first NBA game that I’ve turned on in probably over a decade and maybe longer. And it was unwatchable for me. It was bad. I guess it’s because the league has been out of sight and out of mind for me, that I simply had a hard time with it and had no rooting interest or skin in the game. I suppose this is how most Americans feel when they turn on something like champions league football or the EPL. Or people in Georgia or Oklahoma when they turn on the NHL.
Was it a bad, sloppy game, or is it just me?
College basketball as a game/style is far more interesting than the NBA.
NBA is all about talent, incredible physicality, ref whistles, and basic sets to create one-on-one matchups.
So it’s a matter of preference, but at times the NBA style is unwatchable and boring to me when compared to college.
Yeah. I guess my point is we like what we like. I’m not ripping the NBA. I would never do that, as the popularity of the league speaks for itself. It’s just not my cup of tea. I’m just wondering if that was a typical game last night or instead a bad game to use to try to sell the sport. If I sat down and watched a well played game 7, I might enjoy it for a night? I don’t know. It’s just last night struck me as a real snooze fest. And the hockey game on the other channel was too.
Last night was alright. I actually find the Celtics a really unappealing team to watch. They are overly reliant on the three and for as good as Tatum is, he never works to find a good shot, he's just good at making tough/bad shots.
The Lakers/Nuggets series, on the other hand, was outstanding. Even for a sweep they were four extremely competitive games and Joker is an absolute joy to watch. Very high level of play.
I prefer college hoops over the NBA as well. Having said that, I do watch the NBA but only during the playoffs and only if the Celtics are playing. Agree that they are overly reliant on the three, but they've been my team for a long time and they still are.
My brother is a Northern California guy who loves the Warriors, so my Dad follows the sport and the western conference a bit because of my brother. He told me the same about Denver. I’ll try to check them out.

No, your eyes did not deceive. The NBA is a piss poor product. I can't watch it. And I was a huge fan up until the mid 2000s or so.
I've said it before, but the guys in the NBA have almost gotten "too good" or something, for my tastes. They either don't miss or barely miss seemingly every shot when I turn it on. I kind of enjoy the flaws that come with college basketball. It's the same thing with football, really. The professional players are damn near too fast for the field now.
... Although QB play in the NFL has been so bad that they're almost starting to return to the old days, haha.

I don't watch much NHL, but from what little I do watch I think you're right. It seemed like back in the 90's (when I actually did watch it, although I was young), you could actually see things develop. Now, everything is so split-second.
Guys have gotten so refined in every sport. Baseball pitchers and throwing a hell of a lot faster and with more movement. And then there is just "less space" in the other sports. NFL receivers are almost never wide open anymore unless a coverage was blown... throws just have to be pinpoint or to the back shoulder, etc. I kind of miss the days - in all sports - where you could see what the obvious play was to be made and watch them make it.
