There seems to be 2 things that the vast majority of fans now agree on:
1) Narduzzi’s defensive scheme does not work against spread offensives and RPOs.
2) Narduzzi will not change the defensive scheme.
Putting aside #2, if Narduzzi decided that he wanted to change the scheme, how long would it take to accomplish?
I’m not an Xs and Os guy, so I honestly don’t know the answer. Would it be as simple as re-installing the 3 CB nickle and dime Ds that Pitt employed at Syracuse last year and at the end of the year, or is this something that would take months to do?
It seems that so much time and effort has been spent on designing schemes where LBs serve as hybrid safeties that are asked to cover slot receivers, I just wonder if it’s something that could done between games. Maybe one of the coaches or ex-players could weigh in.
