I firmly believe that play gave Pitt's administration a false sense of security. They laughed at Sherrill and A&M, saw the talent pool in wpa and believed they couldn't lose.
Foge proved them wrong, Cas was pushed out in April of '82 and the steel mills fell in '83 starting the slow and enduring drop in population in western PA.
Frankly, I don't ever want to see that video clip again. We've been stuck in the past some 35 years.
Let it go. It wasn't as great then as people would lead you to believe.

They effed up with Sherrill, the worst move Pitt ever made, at least they should have hired Jimmy Johnson to replace him. But let's remember, Pitt was a national brand then. Pitt recruited Parade AA's from Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Jersey and Eastern Pa back then.

We still recruited well until the J Dennis/Mary Briscoe/Oval Jaynes regime came in and tried to kill all big time sports.
