What a cerebral, forthright, and informative Broadcast about the Panther Football Program and reflection on the Program where it has been and where it may be going!

No question in my opinion "Pitting" is an outright insult and foolish way to describe the rebuilding of Pitt Football Program! Taking on the Pitt Football Conspiracy Theories about the Football Program! The facts are as I am concern all tried their best to rebuild Pitt into a Top 25 Program but many factors impact on that task the last 20 years. Bold changes brought back winning, but conference changes, athletic changes, coaching changes, and administration changes simple has kept the Pitt Program into a Mediocre Cycle after 2010.

The way I see it and this is just my view with no offense to anyone else, Nordenberg-Pederson did rebuild the Football Program into a winner in their first tenure. However, the second tenure of the Nordenberg-Pederson combination setback the Program back due Nordenberg's over confidence of the selfish, myopic, and ego of a proven Nebraska failed Pederson unable to maintain a Top 25 Program let alone ever build one anywhere, not just at Pitt. At the same time, it is my opinion, Nordenberg Goal after 2004 and especially after 2010 was to get Pitt into a Power Conference. In the end, Pitt is now in the ACC and thus a New Era and revenues is upon the Pitt New Chancellor, Athletic Director, and Coaches!

My own take below:

Nordenberg-Pederson-Harris Era-1996-2004:
Few to none knew Pitt could not even fund 85 Scholarships until 2002. No program can win without a full compliment of Scholarship Players. In addition, few Coaches want to even go to a Program without all 85 Scholarships being funded. Harris a Brilliant Ohio State's QB & Offensive Coordinator too on that challenge after several rejections. Walt not only had a rebuilding job but had to do it paying his Assistants far below any reasonable salary that kept changing his staff and thus ending any steady stability in recruiting, coaching, and game planning from year to year. Yet, after 3 years he did it and brought back Pitt to winning from 1997-2004 going 52-44 at.542% Winning Percentage and 52nd Ranking among FBS Teams. When one thinks that Pitt Football Program went 23-54-1 from1990-1996 Winning .314% Percentage Ranked at 90th among FBS Programs, that was a remarkable accomplishment. Pederson left Pitt like Howland did in 2002 both wanting jobs they wanted all their lives, Pederson return to Nebraska and Howland's desire to coach UCAL, and both failed after 5 and 10 years too. Walt Harris & Staff had many accomplishments with very little resources, but kept losing 2 games it should have won, as winning a 1 many expected to lose? Once the ACC raided the Big East and took away Miami, VT, and BC, Walt's winning 9 Games and having a Heisman Candidate in Fitzgerald, slowly drained away as the Program could not win 10 games? More of an impact was on the Big East reshuffling was just a fight for retaining a BCS Bowl, and just made recruiting and winning tougher. In the end, coaching at Pitt having to over come inconsistent winning, establishing recruiting on a shoe string budget and underpaid changing coaches was hard to overcome and Harris was not renewed after 8 years. Still, Pitt became a more attractive job in the process and Nordenberg did hire Pitt Alumnus Dave Wannstedt and some boosters committed to paying his Assistants the salaries to take the Program back to top 25 Winning.

Nordenberg-Long-Wannstedt Era-2005-2010:
In spite of many high expectations, Coach Dave & Staff had an immediate impact on recruiting as he rebuilt ties with High School coaches and his personality was well established in the NFL and among Parents he met. He renewed faith in Pittsburgh going back to Pitt Block and a few Boosters return but not enough? Yet, changing the Harris West Coast System and upgrading its Recruits Talent took 3 years with 3 to 4 disappointing close losses each year? Yet, the 13-9 Win over WVU and additions the play of Revis and McCoy. Coach Wannstedt won at a higher clip as promised, going 43-31 and winning at 581% clip ranking 40th among FBS Teams. Still, even Wannstedt & Staff had trouble losing games they could have won, had discipline problems off the field, and the return of Fired Disgraced Steve Pederson by his own Alma Mater all haunted Wannstedt's Tenure. Nordenberg chose Pederson over Wannstedt for whatever reason (I Suspect the ACC Power Conference Goals Invitation) the Football Program gains under Wannstedt quickly turn to mediocrity due to Pederson caused instability. Still, the Pitt Program finally won 10 Games with a Top 15 Ranking since 1980s. As well as, rebuilding recruiting classes often in the Top 30 and 25 Rankings was another accomplishment towards rebuilding Pitt's Football Program.

End Of Part I:
Part II Below:

Part II:

Nordenberg-Pederson Haywood Era-16 December 2010-1 January 2001:
Steve Pederson having no replacement ready for the Fired Head Coach now Consultant with a huge Buyout Dave Wannstedt only added to Pitt troubles to attract a Top Coach just like what happen at Nebraska after Pederson had fired 10+ Games Winning Frank Solich. Coach after coach turn Pitt down but finally Pederson hired Mike Haywood from Miami of Ohio known for taking naps before games and going from 1-11 to 9-4 at Total Career of .400% Winning Percentage of 10-15 Ranking 86th, never did sit well? Pitt Fans & Boosters did not have confidence Pitt was on the right rebuilding track? After just 16 days, the only person Haywood beat was his Mother's Son and Pitt had to fire him in panic on New Year's Day. Still, Nordenberg refused to fire Pederson in that process even after being caught in lies about the Wannstedt firing? Clearly, a moral failure of Nordenberg's failure of nerve and obvious double ethical standards? Attracting another Coach at a late date slowly dissolved any recruiting class Pitt Program had built under Wannstedt as well.

Nordenberg-Pederson-Graham Era 2011-2011:
Again after the Haywood debacle and several Top Coaching interview turn downs, and no consideration of any Pitt Alumni Coaches, Pederson hit a home run in attracting Tulsa's Todd Graham to Pitt with great fanfare, expectations, and No Huddle High Octane Offense. Todd with a just a Penny in hand, came in a saved what he could of a Pitt decimated recruiting class and brought a staff of Assistant Coaches that knew more about WVU than Pitt? After followin in the New Pederson Brand Tradition under Harris and Wannstedt of Pitt losing games that Pitt could have won. Graham fit right in with close losses to Iowa 27-31, Notre Dame 12-15, UCincy 23-26, and WVU 20-12, leaving Pitt with a .461% Winning percentage at 6-7 and 68th FBS ranking? Unlike Harris and Wannstedt, Toad GraHAM blamed his Players more than his Coaches not following the Pederson practice of blaming Fans & Coaches instead of his choices? In any event, in the early foggy morning GraSCRAM all of sudden left Pitt when Pederson was away. Graham's scram led local and national media to title him as "The King of Liars." and was able to get his New ASU Athletic Director fired to be replaced by the one Texas just fired last week? Yet, Graham won at ASU and is still winning? Unfortunately, nobody fired Pederson again even though the Pitt Players openly criticized Graham for his quick departure by Texting his Team in shock and appall and all the lies just continued under a Pederson's Pitt Football Branding. Few recruits and parents started to not trust Pitt Football anymore, but Nordenberg stood by Pederson? It seem only Graham's scram could make Pederson's Pitting!

Nordenberg-Pederson-Chryst Era 2012-2014:
After again, few Top coaches and no Pitt Alumni Coaches weer considering Pitt especially working under Pederson after Major, Harris, Solich, Callahan, Wannstedt, Bennett, Haywood, Graham, Patterson firings, resigning, and buyouts. Nebraska's Alumnus, Barry Alvarez that was once turn down to become Head Coach at Pitt before he took the job at Wisconsin, stepped in to help his fellow Nebarska Alumnus Pederson called Pitt and promoted Wisky's Offensive Coordinator Paul Chryst! Paul took his good old time assembling a Staff and establish his own system as he learned how to become a Head coach on Pitt not Wisky's dime? After inheriting another Pederson's poisoned decimated recruiting class. Chryst's did another Player Clean-Up of following either Chryst's System his way. Pitt went on to a brilliant 19-20 Record with .487% Losing Percentage contributing towards a New Head Coach mediocre tutoring undoing Harris and Wannstedt's .558% Winning Percentage 45th FBS Ranking? Winning. When one considers that Chryst just developed an Offense since Chryst was unable or did not believe in coaching the Defense or Special Teams, that is about ion par for a New Head Coach Yearling without a Pederson Personality? The Penn State Scandal saved Pitt Recruiting gaining some Top Recruits. Chryst attracting Transfers was smart enough to help build his Offense. However, Pitt again was back to losing 2 to 3 games mostly on the Chryst's Coaching of his Special Teams or year end collapsing of his Staff's Defenses. Chryst's Head Coaching Tutoring led to his graduation of returning home to his beloved Wisconsin since now Barry Alvarez all of a sudden could not keep a Head Coach as bad Nebraskan Karma came upon him too, like Pederson? Chryst left Pitt with a shining 19-20 .491% Winning Percentage or better another Pederson's coaching choice Losing Percentage? Nordenberg rewarded Pederson's fine management consultants and lies with another 5 Year Athletic Director Buyout leaving Pitt with a $7 million in a loss just like Graham and Chryst did in their football coaching as well as even after being in the ACC with ACC Revenues? Yet, Pitt demanded more Booster 7 Fan money to support that $7 Million loss of which $5 million went to Pederson alone due to Nordenberg? Under Nordenberg, Pitt Football did rebuild from a 314% Losing percetage to a .540% Winning Percentage Ranking 49th among FBS Teams at 120-102 record

Gallagher-Juhl-Barnes-Narduzzi Era 20015-????
At least Chancellor Gallahger made bold moves quickly without any Athletic Director and chose MSU's Defensive Coordinator Coach Pat Narduzzi that always wanted to come to Pitt. After several Winning Coaches unlike Haywood, all of sudden was interested to coming to Pitt, upon Pederson's resignation buyout departure? Pitt also attracted pretty good candidates for the Athletic Director position as well. Barnes at least reached out to Pitt Alumni, Boosters, and Fans to contribute to rebuilding the Pitt Football Program. Unlike the Pederson Pittsburgh-Nebraska Expensive Consultant's Re-Branding failures that never built a Top 25 Program at Pitt in Football, and did not maintain one at Nebraska. If anyone is looking why Pitt return to losing and mediocrity it was due Nordenberg's misjudgment of bringing back and then keeping Steve Pederson that did not do as well as he did from 1996 to 2002. Steve's ego and misjudgments and the Boosters and Fans this kept reducing Pitt to below Mediocre Winning from 2011 to 2014 with his choices at Coaching?

A new Chancellor, new Athletic Director, and new Coach is starting a new Era of Pitt Football is upon us and this time in the ACC. Consequently, your Broadcast making fun at "Pitt Pitting" was spot on, but I call it "Pederson's Poison Pitting!" not "Pitt Pitting!"

Winning cures all ills.
I recall when the Steelers were 'the same ole Stillers" and I sat in Pitt stadium and watched my cousin Danny Ambramowicz and the NOLA Saints beat them in one of the worst football games in NFL history.
There is nothing Pitt can do about its past except make people forget it by being as good as it was bad.

Agree, I have always posted here only PITT can help PITT win more Games! I never blamed Penn State or Paterno, WVU or CoachRod, or anyone else even Steve Pederson! NO PITTING!

Chancellor Posvar and Pitt Alumni Contributors had a vision for Pitt Football and fulfilled it for while from 1972 to 1989! Just like Pitt did from 1914 to 1938 until Chancellor Bowman ended it!

Nordenberg revived rebuilding Pitt Football and made it a top 50 Program from 1997 to 2010 Ranking 45th and winning at .559% and going 95-75! As well as help saving the Big East BCS Bowl Bid and leading the BEC Expansion to do it until he could lead Pitt into being invited into the ACC Power Conference!

Pederson did his best too, in his First Tenure at AD 1996-2002, when Pitt went from losing to 36-35 Record and .508% and Ranking Pitt 62nd. Pederson made mistakes that did not advance Pitt from 2011 to 2014. In the end, actually proving he was mediocre by hurting Pitt in winning with poor coaching choices that went 25-27 and .480% Losing Percentage from 2011 to 2014 Ranking Pitt at 76th among FBS Programs?

They all tried their best and return Pitt to winning but not by much!

Therefore, one can see that it is Not "PITTing" but "PITTSBURGHing", and not in PITT SCRIPT Lettering? Nice try, but never accomplished his goals after 19 years but filled his pockets with Pitt money! Oh well, it is over for him but not for Pitt?

Time for Pitt to be Great again with the vision of Interim Athletic Director Juhl stated....."If Pitt Can Cure Polio For The World Pitt Should Be Able To Win 10 Games Again!"

Still up to Pitt to find the right people that can commit to winning like they did the 1910-1938, 1950-1963, and 1972-1985, and 2000-2010!
