Cleaning house

This team has quit. We are probably looking at 7-11 in the ACC.

Maybe it would be better if Young and Artis went pro meaning we lose all 5 starters and field a team of players who actually care. These are the same group of guys who quit last season and embarrasses themselves against GW in the NIT with Dan Dakich calling them out.
SMF... Can't be serious !

This team fought back, you must have been watching another game.

I think it is very telling that SMF hasn't been back in this thread to offer up a mea culpa.

Pretty cowardly, actually.

He's not a coward, he's just wrong a lot and he's grown used to it. Retaining the ability to remain so ignorant over a lifetime requires the ability to compartmentalize, deflect, or simply ignore when you're proven wrong. At the same time it requires the hubris to shout to the rooftoops when you're right, even if it's about the color of the sky.

So.....there's that.

Okay but in all seriousness, isn't that what you could do on message boards? These forums allow all different types of fans to post their beliefs, thoughts, predictions, etc...
Still trying to justify garbage behavior that's repeated ad nauseum.

I try and defend himself to a degree and he never came back at all after the game. I don't understand why he just disappeared.

Lesson #1 in sports message board posting: always wait till the end of the game before typing some emotionally charged rant.

Funny Pitt won by 2 points. I'd say barely beating a 2-5 team on the road, getting blown out by a now 1-6 NC State team at home, getting blown out by a mediocre Louisville team on the road in 3 out of 4 games is not particularly funny. It's not like we beat UNC in Chapel Hill good god.

That certainly is looking at things in the most grim fashion. We also beat ND on the road, who just beat Duke. The ACC is not the Atlantic 10. A road win at FSU is a good win, Period.

Scaz, road win in the ACC always something to hang your hat !

I gotta say I love to be wrong on this. As you can tell, I pretty much gave up on this team. Take away the win over BC, who is like a D2 team, I saw a team which played terrible against Lou and NC St and looked just as bad in the first half against FSU. They looked every bit like last year's Pitt team.

But, the boys really came to play in the 2nd Half and showed the type of heart and toughness this program has been missing for a few years. It was a "old time" Pitt win. We found a way. And as hard as I was on Robinson, we dont win that game without his big 3s in the 2nd half.

Jamie said that was the most vocal he's been in his 13 years so we at least shared the frustration. The season was over. We were staring at the NIT. The team looked like it quit.......but we found a way. A very promising victory. Hopefully we can build on this and beat Clemson.

I'll be going to Pitt soon. I hope the folks I meet aren't jerks like you. You couldn't even apologize to the guys. I don't even think you went to Pitt. You have real problems upstairs.

Some of you people take this stuff way to seriously. We lose that game, we probably lose to Clemson and its NIT time. Its a message board. I post my thoughts, opinions, frustrations, etc. Sometimes I'm right and sometimes I'm wrong. When I'm wrong, I love it to be times like this.

The team looked awful in the first half and at that point in time, I stand by my "thoughts" but they were wrong, of course because this team showed all of us something.

Great, great win.

Accusing athletes of quitting shows that the OP never played a sport, and doesn't have a clue.

You claim to be in high school, so I will cut you a break, and I am in no way defending some of the meltdowns that occur mid-game on this site, but you obviously didn't watch Pitt's NIT game last season if that is your viewpoint. And trust me, it's in no way exclusive to Pitt. Athletes, and whole teams, have undoubtedly quit during the course of both individual games and whole seasons over the course sporting history, at the amateur, collegiate and professional levels.

In my opinion, to question this team's wherewithal after that 1st half performance, as well as their overall metal toughness against adversity after the finish to last season and the recent efforts against Louisville and NC State was totally fair game. I'm glad they proved those of us who felt that way wrong in this particular instance.

I will take any road win we can get this season, but that said, and let's be honest here, if FSU did not totally meltdown in the last 2 minutes with mostly self-inflicted mistakes, I'm not sure we win that game despite the improved effort in the 2nd half. I sincerely hope that the takeaway of the team from this game is not that they can just "turn it on" when needed and still win games, because that will not be the case against the upper-half of teams in this conference.

I'm really looking forward to seeing if Pitt comes out with that same 2nd half fire against Clemson and punchs them right in the mouth from the get-go!

I just want to make sure I have this straight... You "stand by" your thoughts, which were the team has quit on the season, despite overcoming a 10-point halftime deficit on the road (which just happens to be the 2nd biggest road comeback in a BE or ACC conference game)?

How's the weather in dreamland?

Yes, because at that point, given how I do believe they quit at the end of last season and what I saw against Lou, NCSU, and FSU 1st half, the same thing looked to be happening. And I believe given the history with this group of players, it was a valid opinion.

They really showed something in that 2nd Half to ease the concerns of some that this team can overcome adversity.

I was wrong about the team "quitting" but if you're looking for me to apolgize for feeling that they had, its not going to happen. Those were 2.5 lifeless performances.

Lets move on and beat Clemson. Though with less individual talent than FSU, they are the far better team.
