In Jerry D.'s Trib article, Coach Duzz has this quote:

“We watched the highlight tape of some of the great plays that Pitt has had against Notre Dame through the years,” Narduzzi said. “The thing I kept seeing was tailbacks making plays and making people miss.
“You have to have a guy back there who can be a playmaker.”

Though this is so obvious, I find the quote encouraging. I was hoping that this staff would not continue recruiting RBs who do not have the quickness and ability to make a juke and make someone miss. I guess Sanders is their target, in this regard, but we need somebody.

Ollison, James and Hall look like decent backs, but I don't see them making anyone miss...

Go Pitt.

Ollison, James, and Hall aren't difference makers. To me, they look like backups. That said, guys can improve a great deal with experience, but you knew right away about Shady, Graham, and Lewis when you saw them carry the ball. My guess is we still need to recruit a TB to replace Connor

I would add to the list of "you new right away" Tony Dorsett, Brian Davis, Curvin Richards, Curtis Martin

Go Pitt.
Hard to disagree. The impact that a truly terrific back can make is second only to a tremendous QB. We have a solid group of backs. They won't hurt you, but no opposing coach is burning the midnight oil worrying about Pitt's backs. Maybe we get Sanders and he is that guy. I've also said, don't sleep on Chawntez Moss. The kid has some great cutting ability. He could surprise a few people.

Cruzer

Moreover, Hall with be a really good RB. He's just a freshman, but has shown some ability. However, Sanders is the RB who is a threat to score every time he touches the ball.
Yep, but won't play much at Penn State with Barkley there, will have to wait?

Miles will run Miles at Pitt & in the NFL just like Dorsett, Heyward, Shady, and now Lewis as well as many more from Pitt without sitting on the Bench!

I wasnt impressed with Conner as a freshman. It wasnt until the bowl game that I thought he would be a really good RB so I do think it is possible that all of our young RBs can be very good, but in my opinion, none of them have looked good this season and they are a big reason why this is one of the worst offenses in recent Pitt memory. They still have time but there is a great opportunity for Sanders to come in and be the guy from Day 1. If he doesn't come here, they have to seriously consider Whitehead as an every down back and give up D.

What is your point? He will recruit RBs every year. We badly need a RB who can makes guys miss.
I think it's in reference to Narduzzi [potentially] recruiting a player that isn't able to do what a RB needs to be able to do, at least in the context of that quote.

To answer his question, Darrin Hall committed in August 2014, so he was recruited by Paul Chryst, but signed under Narduzzi.

Does anyone really think that Sanders will split time with Barkley? That would be a very unpleasant situation for Barkley. If Sanders signs with PSU, he'd better beat out Barkley mano e mano for significant playing time or be prepared to ride the pine for the next 2 years.

I don't think he's going there anymore, but if he does I'd think he'll probably redshirt or yeah he's gonna have to split carries, possibly being very few of them next year.

Franklin is going to have to promise him that he won't redshirt and that he's going to get carries. How many carries remains to be seen. Best case scenario, he gets equal playing time. Worst-case, he gets 1-2 series per game and can soak in the great atmosphere from the bench.

At Pitt, he's the starting RB from Day 1 at a place that has put every single RB who has started a game for us into the NFL since Ironhead in the 80s except Kirkley and Bennett. Its really unbelievable how many Pitt RBs have at least made an NFL roster.

Vap, I just read that the Hill kid, former OSU recruit, is being recruited by Pitt as a LBer.

Interesting. Lots of speed and atheticism; would be a beast as a speed rusher off the edge. Wonder what his thoughts are of playing on the defensive side?
