In 2011, we had Alabama play LSU. Aside from being one of the lowest rated BCS Champ games in history, it involved obviously two of the same conference teams.
Now that we are in a 4 team playoff, you would think the chances of having two teams from the same conference would go up, right? I am thinking wrong.
With this committee choosing the participants, I think you are going to see this as less and less of a possibility. I think most fans (except those SEC! SEC! SEC!) want to see SOME representation of the college football landscape in the playoffs and matchups, instead of it being the sole dominion of cotton mouthed rednecks.
Even if most of us acknowledge that maybe 2 of the best 4 teams might be in the same conference, I believe most want 4 conferences/independents represented.
