Every college coach wants a dynamic point guard who can score, dish, limit TO’s, control game, get his teammates involved in the right place at the right time, and make FT’s to close out games. But there are only so many of them to go around!
This quote from Dambrot last night about his FR PG really resonated with me, “The thing about Mikey is he’s sturdy and he’s willing, His stat line looks horrible (two points on 0- for-2 shooting), but ever since we’ve played him, we’ve won. That’s not a coincidence. He doesn’t care about anything else, except winning. He has no basketball agenda. He’s moved the ball. He’s defended. He’s tough. Some guys are winners.”
I love X’s fearlessness and athleticism but he is costing us greatly. But HCJC doesn’t have enough offensively to pull him out of the game.
I would not trade X for Duquesne’s PG, but I wish someone on Pitt’s staff could get thru to X how much he’s hurting the team and how much he could actually help the team (and himself and his future aspirations).
Capel has to be going crazy trying to figure this out!
