Virginia pooped the bed last night against Miss St. Up 4-0 heading to 8th and gave up a 6 spot. Score one more to make it 6-5 but they could have been int he drivers seat for that group
NC state just found out numerous players are now in covid protocol just like an hour before first pitch vs vandy. They delayed the game an hour but will be shorthanded. Wow.
They had 13 total players available to play, 9 position players and 4 pitchers. They started a guy at first base who pitched one of their games earlier this week, a guy who had not played in the field since high school. He actually got three hits. They had to move their regular 3rd baseman to shortstop, where he made two errors that cost them two runs. Their staring DH had only started one game all season and after today he is now 0-9 from the plate on the year. The guy who they started on the mound had not thrown more than 3 innings or 65 pitches all year. He went 5+ on 87 pitches, 3 runs but only 1 earned. The guy they brought in to relieve him hadn't thrown more than 45 pitches all year. He went the last 4 on 70 pitches.
And they only lost the game 3-1. They had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th with two outs and their best hitter up. And he hit a 3-2 pitch for a pop up. And then they had 1st and 2nd with one out in the 8th and didn't score. And then they had 1st and 2nd in the 9th with two outs and again didn't score.
Apparently they offered NC State the chance to forfeit today's game and still be allowed to come back tomorrow to try to get the win they need to advance to the championship series. And they said no, we'll play it out.
And now NC State has to forfeit their game this afternoon. Apparently the medical people won't allow them to play. Vandy gets a walkover to the championship series.
Isn't this where SMF chimes in and tells us all that this clearly means that the NC State players don't care about playing baseball and would rather party?

I just don’t get it. Why would not every team at this time be vaccinated? I get that some people don’t want to get the vaccine but selfishly they are putting themselves way above their teammates and entire team and other teams. I would be pissed if I was on that team and had to forfeit.
