I always liked him and felt he was a good player and team leader. He was unjustly criticized by some people.

I always liked him and felt he was a good player and team leader. He was unjustly criticized by some people.

His biggest 2 problems were:

- He was rated too highly out of HS. Top 50 by some pubs making him one of the biggest Pitt recruits.....well, ever.

- He had Cam Wright and Chris Jones at the 2. Below average ACC guards. With the lack of scoring we had at guard, we needed a PG who could create offense for himself and others and that wasn't his game. Now, he was a great caretaker and would have been really something as the PG on a loaded team.....like an Aaron Craft or TJ McConnell but we werent that.

These and he just kind of plateaued after his freshman year during a period of time when almost all relevant Pitt players seemed to improve every year. Tough expectations to live up to when you're pretty darn solid as a frosh.
