Thanks Chris for the free content! Great to read honest, to-the-point comments about the newest guys and how recruiting has its ups and downs. Compare this to T. Smith at psu:

(from the PG) Terry Smith said: “We’re getting the kids we want. … Penn State is not a place for every kid out of Pennsylvania, but Penn State is a great place for the kids that we choose to bring to Penn State.”

Delusional, and this after 4-5 important recruits ditched them, and very coveted Dioubate went with Temple! Sure jimmy is not about to rant (as much as he would have liked to) on Signing Day about those big fish that got away, replaced with plan B guys. Hey Terry, does this mean you didn't choose Michael Dwumfour, Hudson, Nordin, Matthews, Dioubate, Pryts etc and 'bring them to psu'?

Great job by Coach and his staff with these new players; according to Pete Fiutak, "It’s a really, really nice class with head coach Pat Narduzzi and his staff getting enough time to show what they can do. This was a good group of midrange talents without any real risks – the Panthers bulked up on D, and found the backs they needed on O."

PSU still had a really good class. But he didn't have a plan B for any of the guys that ditched him. That's where he messed up.

That hurts them particularly because this is the year they COULD have got their 'ship numbers back up to 85.
IF they had been able to fill their 2016 class, that is.

Like stated a year ago, there are plenty of recruits and players for both Programs and WVU, Temple and Others too! I am very happy with what Pitt's Coach Pat & Staff did on Recruiting in just his full year. Franklin has been doing it for 7 Years too, and so be it!

Speaking of NItter arrogance - they certainly have convinced their PG writer Audrey Synder. She ended her recruiting article yesterday with a reference to Franklin's bus ride from PIttsburgh, which included commits Sanders and Mathews, and coveted recruit Damar Hamlin. Of course PSU only ended up with Sanders - and Audrey explained that the purpose of that bus ride was to reaffirm Sander's commitment (apparently Damar and Aaron were just along for a joy ride).

That's really accurate journalism there Audrey. If you are going to include that statement, you should quote the PSU coach who told you that.

Go Pitt.

No mention that trip was with Central Catholic Graduates Moorhead & Limegrover, but a few months ago, in the Tribue Review they did an article on Pitt's Marino talking with Hamlin after being Honored at Central Catholic? Audrey must have missed that too?

Wheeler and Hamlin from CCHS at Pitt and Mathhews from Clairton too, puts Pitt in a great position for 2017 Recruits from both High Schools too!

She also said that with the Pa recruits Franklin got the Peds feel they dominated the state.

They're most always gonna have a good class and ranked ahead of Pitt in the B10 with history and 100m budget. But I think things will keep leaking for them until they actually win something besides attendance and rivals.

Top to bottom, Pitt has the better class in my opinion. Have to keep spending money in recruiting, to get studs from Texas, Florida , even California at times.

Wasn't she the hack who suggested Penn State was at a disadvantage against Northwestern because the Wildcats were playing their backup?

Things like this make you look like a fool.

So be it, you do know Franklin as an Assistant Coach job expanded to the Recruiting Coordinator's job at Maryland in 2003, and has been a great Recruiter?

I pointed out it was Franklin as Head Coach at Vanderbilt and Penn State has been recruiting longer and doing a pretty good job at both Schools. JF took over Vandy had 70th Class his first year, 29 his first full year, 19, then at PSU 24, 15, 22.

Narduzzi first year was 65 and now 30? Both did pretty good as far as I am concern.

His ignorance or weakness was what he perceived to be PoSU's strength. He, along with all of them truly believe that PoSU can have the pick of the litter, all they have to do is offer and EVERYONE will come running. I hope they all continue to think of themselves as nationally relevant along the lines of OSU and Alabama because that will make it easier for us and everyone else against them.

They continue to believe that they are a national power, that all of the negativity from this scandal is Pitt fans, no one else, trying to bring them down. And that Sandusky is the ONLY guilty one.

As long as the deck is stacked to OSU and Michigan, PSU will always be the red headed step child. Simple fact is the Franklin hire was marginal relative to the two BIg Ten favorites. They simply can't compete at that level. The metric of We ARE thus WE Can is folly. They had a top 20 to 25 recruiting class. That may very well be as good as it gets. Pitt is doing more with less to a degree. Pitt will win next as they are better. The delusion that is the PSU fan base is laughable.

Pitt opened the door up BIG,wide for recruiting the local kids this year..Not only will P.N be recruiting, but the local Pitt players on the team will be working hard as well to get their friends, for the next 2-3 classes...This trumps anything 'we are', Terry Smith can do for PSU.

Ncyajleel, very good point on the Ignorance, since GoodNap was sleeping in fooling himself not knowing all the Facts between Franklin & Narduzzi Coaching Bio Backgrounds.

Coach Jimmy been to many places and claims 3 NFL Internships on 3 different Teams? Yet, Jimmy's has just one year experience at 7 various places including one in Europe, without even including those 3 NFL Internships when those happen?

At Maryland 2000-04 he was the WRs Coach and made Recruiting Coordinator as well in 2003, and left for Green Bay Packers WR Coach for 1 year before going to KSU for 2 years and going 12-13 as OC under Coach Prince that was fired and the Great Bill Snyder had to return to rebuild KSU Football.

Franklin returned to Maryland as OC/QB Coach going 19-19 before heading to Vanderbilt for his first Head Coaching job and going 24-15 and now 14-12 at Penn State.

Jimmy's Background early on was mostly Wide Receivers and this is why I posted and credited Franklin with good recruiting really dating back to 2003 at Maryland to Vandy to PSU?

Now compare, Coach Pat Narduzzi working just as a Defensive Coach Career? Coach Pat only had 2 places he remained only 1 year unlike Franklin's 7? Coach Pat started out at DII Rhode Island for 7 years at LB coach and then moved to DC going 4-18 1998-99. Moved on to Northern Illinois as LB Coach before taking Miami (OH), 1 year as DC going 13-1. Dantonio kept Coach Pat as DC for 3 years at UCincy going 19-17 as well as moved on to MSU as DC going 75-31. Clearly, Coach Pat was more involved in just coaching Defenses and coaching Defensive Players.

Now look at Franklin as a Former WR/OC/QB has gone after RB's/WR's and those will be his Best Players on the field in 2016 to 2018 without an Extension right now?

Compare to Coach Pat first 2 years recruiting at Pitt being DT's/DB's and those are some of his Best Players for 2016-2019 and beyond with his Extension!

If GoodNapping would have taken the time to look at the difference between PSU's Franklin's Coaching Bio & PITT's Coach Pat Narduzzi, one can see the difference quite clearly.

Coach Narduzzi is a superb Defensive oriented Coach for multiple years at a few places just as Coach Jimmy has held Offensive Coaching on mostly WRs/OC & Recruiter Coordinator?

In summary, Coach Pat has more experience and success at coaching but just in his second year as Head Coach and now doing just as well at recruiting and coaching at Pitt as Jimmy did at recruiting at Penn State and good coaching at Vanderbilt.

Both Pitt and Penn State can be proud of both of them, but PSU's Jimmy has a Head Coaching jump on Coach Pat and now we will see what happens from 2016-19!
