Could probably have run to about the 25. I think he keeps running unless expressly instructed to get down.

Play was exceptionally well blocked.

Look at the reaction of the Pitt players on the field when he is approaching the first down marker. They all knew what the play was that was called from the booth or sideline. He was told not to run any further than the first down. So just another nail in the coffins of Cignetti and Narduzzi.

The root cause of yesterday’s dichotomies between our situation and FSU, and for most controversial calls or non calls or vast discrepancy in penalties on one side vs another etc, lies in the travesty that conferences hire and operate their own officials.

It has always been a black eye on the game, but it’s more blatant than ever now, thanks to the improved ability of tech to isolate and call out the obvious shams, in even the most mundane games like last night, when in the past such a crap game would not even be broadcast at all, let alone have multiple cameras showcasing the folly (and the conference’s blatant arrogance).

Independent officiating is a must.

The refs also made a similar call late in the Arizona State - Washington game last night to give Arizona State a first down.

Because obviously those cheating conference officials wanted the one win team to beat the team that has a chance to make the playoff.

Just like how they were so concerned yesterday to have the zero win team beat the one win team, even though they waited until there were only 50 seconds left in the game to tell the refs to cheat.
