Can anyone link or post an up-to-date roster? With a good amount of movement this offseason, I've lost track of who we actually have going into next year. Thanks!

From above "Scholly Numbers" article:
Seniors (2)
James Robinson (guard) - recovering from surgery
Joseph Uchebo (center) - good as gone

Juniors (5)
Mike Young (forward) - the one bright spot
Jamel Artis (forward) - great offense, need some defense
Chris Jones (forward) - needs to improve
Josh Newkirk (guard) - "deer in the headlights" syndrome
Sheldon Jeter (wing) - needs to improve

Sophomores (2)
Ryan Luther (center) - maybe redshirting
Cameron Johnson (wing) - recovering from surgery

Departures :
Cameron Wright (guard) - Graduation
Derrick Randall (center) - Graduation
Aron Philips-Nwankwo (forward) - Graduation
Durand Johnson (guard) - Transfer
Tyrone Haughton (center) - Transfer

Additions (5)
Damon Wilson (guard, freshman) - enrolled and ready to go
Rozelle Nix (center, JUCO transfer) - enrolled, but in intense weight training
Rafael Maia (center, graduate transfer) - issues with eligibility, may not make it to Pitt. Last heard of in Brazil somewhere.
Sterling Smith (guard, graduate transfer) - recovering from surgery
Alonzo Nelson-Ododa (center, graduate transfer) - plans are a "go" to be at Pitt

For what it's worth (since you included Nwankwo on the departures), it also appears that Josh Ko will also be leaving, and Mike Lecak should be returning (although still a walk-on).

Joe Uchebo will not be on the roster.

Young is "the one bright spot"?

Jamel Artis had a streak where he was lighting it up, averaging 20+ ppg. For his offense alone he is definately a bright spot! Unreal how some totally undervalue scoring ability. Artis is potentially the star of this team.

The funny thing is that I've seen a lot of posts that stated departures at center...

Uchebo and Houghton

Seriously? the depth chart last year by the mid season for centers off the bench was

Nwonkwo
Uchebo
Houghton

Give credit where it's due.

Not exactly. There are these pesky things called statistics that consistently prove what you think you saw wrong.

You missed Derrick Randall. He played 210 minutes last season, basically all at center.
Uchebo played 130 minutes, basically all at center.
Nwankwo played only 80 minutes -some at PF. He missed a month from late January to late February, pretty much the whole mid-season when you have him the first center off the bench.
Haughton played ZERO minutes.,

I should say here that... of the five new players.... four are on campus and registered while Maia, is not.

The thing is, it was noted here on this board some time ago that Rafael, planned to play summer ball in his native Brazil. Also, I would not be surprised if he wanted to be with family and friends over the summer (winter in Brazil) just like anyone would want. So, him spending the summer in Brazil, is not surprising.

On the other hand... as far as the other four players are concerned.... they needed to be on campus AND taking classes to be able to participate in the now cancelled pro-am tourney.... AND, I would think, they needed the same if they were to spend the one hour a week (or whatever it is) being coached by Dixon. So, it was important for them to be so registered and taking classes and of course they can always go home for the weekend to see family and friends.

In short, this whole thing with Rafael Maia, may not be that big a deal. Yeah, until he is registered for classes you never know and he could not be with the team come the fall. But, on the other hand, it may be that Zeise misread what Dixon was telling him and the only thing with Maia, is he will be in Brazil for the summer and that is all.

So, we will just have to wait and see (nice to see that Wilson is here and taking classes).

Just a bit over 4 months now until we get to see the team in action.

His situation would have nothing to do with Pitt at this point.

I should clarify -- the best conjecture I've been able to garner thus far is that it's not because of any Pitt imposed rules, or anything coming from Pitt (if that makes sense).

Maybe a student visa issue if he graduated Dartmouth (or was it Brown?) or an eligibility issue developing if his summer play in Brazil is considered professional by the NCAA. However, this is purely my personal speculation. In other words a WAG.

I think there would certainly be some sort of eligibility issue if he graduated Dartmouth since he attended Brown.

;)

I am sure you have now nailed the problem!!
Naaa ... it is YOU who deserves all the credit for that discovery! With that kind of smarts, in addition to Pitt, I'll bet you also attended an IVY League School. I'm guessing it was NYU!

:D

As they chant at Cornell games against Brown U: "We are Big Red, We are Big Red, We are Big Red, you are.......Brown".

He went to BROWN. Yeah, some time ago the NYT came out with their list of the top schools in the country and Brown came out #1. Not a bad choice IMO.
Please don't tell me that the running joke of the thread went completely over your head!

Naa... I was quite aware of that just didn't see it in that last post. Also, as far as a good example of an Ivy League school... instead of NYU.... IMO WVU would have made a better example.

Just wanted to get my two cents in that the NYT decided that Brown was the #1 school in the country and that is where Rafael Maia is coming from.

No, I'm right again. Nwonkwo may have played less minutes, but at mid season, he had beaten out Uchebo and Randall for playing time, he may have ended up with as many or more minutes than them had he not hurt his shoulder. Not saying he was a star, he was an overachieving mediocre walk on, but he did surpass these guys and counting raw minutes and not taking the injury into account makes your stance wrong.

I would certainly hope not! I really hope that the new AD and new attitide would include not punishing yourself anymore.
