Cuse to hire Boise AD

Other Posters and Insiders like CP, will know far more than anything I can post, but it is an interesting choice.

He was one of the Finalists listed in the Papers. There is a group of dynamic younger Athletic Director's on the come and we shall see how they do in the coming years. PITT and CUSE have decided to go after the one looking to leave where they have had success and willing to come to a Power Conference School to take on those challenges.

They are all seeking to leave successful Non-Power Conference Teams and heading to Power Conferences Schools, looking for a fresh start, or need to rebuild their programs, adjust to new conferences, or clean them up like in the case of Cuse BB?

Yet, it will be interesting to see if that becomes a mistake picking a Non-Conference AD over a current Power Conference AD or is that the best they can attract, and is that the right ting to do?

Some Athletic Directors at current Power Conferences are and were available as well. I was told the Clemson Athletic Director from Aliquippa way back after Long would have been very interested in the Pitt job, but Nordenberg went back to Pederson.

It would have been interesting in seeing how Pitt would have done under an ACC Athletic Director and had success at Georgia Tech and Clemson as well is not just respected but a leader on CFB Playoff Committee that now runs the Power Conferences. He knew Pitt, the area, but whether he could rebuild the same Pitt Support Pitt had in the 1970-80s is still a tall task for anyone. Yet, he picked some good college Football Coaches and did model his Programs off of Penn State.

On the other hand, Nordenberg and Pederson did get Pitt into the ACC and that was more important than anything at that time, and that includes winning 10 games, in my opinion.

Consequently, we will never know but all Sports and especially Football Programs are really based on the College Chancellor/Presidents Vision and have it implemented by the New Athletic Director that has to choose and keep the right coaches, build solid increase support form outside contributors, sponsors, and boosters plus know how to use the ACC Money and develop branding that keeps them a Top 25 Programs in Football & Basketball, the revenue makers, and still comply with all Conference, NCAA & Federal Educational Rule,s Regulations, and Laws.

Pederson was one of the hottest AD's in the 1990's and embraced his taks and took on all challengers and was voted Athletic Director of the Year, and deserves much credit, as far as I am concern.

Pederson then abandon Pitt and moved on to his Dream Job at his Alma Mater Nebraska and failed miserably only to be brought back to Pitt and did succeed in helping get Pitt into the ACC, in my opinion.

WVU chose to choose one of their own Alumni twice and saved their Programs by getting into the Big-12 and won some more in Basketball, but took a dip in Football with many challenges still ahead for them, and we shall see how they do and need to go back to Top 25 Winning?

Penn State hired a Football Coach first. then a new President and then an Athletic Director, and we shall see how they do but they have all the Resources they need in the Big Ten, and their Coach only needs to win now??

Pitt chose to hire their New Chancellor first, then its Football Coach, then a New Athletic Director but needs to win more games and rebuild its CFB Football Program and develop the Resources to do it and that is far tougher task.

What school picked the best President/Chancellor, Athletic Director, and Football Coach, will be seen in the next 3 to 5 years and how and why they chose the people they did, will be seen in the results. as Cuse joins in doing the same thing. We shall see?

All I Know At Pitt.....So Little Done So Much Do At Pitt!
