D. Jeter out for season with injury at UM...

Is this the guy whose brother played basketball for Pitt.
Didn't he commit to Pitt then commit to ND. Then commit to Michigan.

Never committed to Pitt. Definitely "big-timed" Pitt after soaking up a whole lot of Panther hospitality. Still hope his injury doesn't hurt his football career log term. Wouldn't wish that on any 19 year old.

Would you wish it on a 20 year old?

This guy:

“I don’t want to play for a mediocre school,” he said. “I don’t want to play for a team that goes like 7-6. I want to go to a school that plays in the big bowl games or plays in the College Football Playoff. I don’t want to go to an average school because I don’t think I’m an average player. I want to make big time plays on a big time stage.”

Good Luck...

Can he still redshirt? The fact that he was playing as a true Frosh says alot.

He is being red shirted per the article. I don't believe he has played. He looked good in the spring, but he's had a lingering injury... Imagine that! A WPIAL player with a lingering injury.

They probably think he's a bust and not good enough to play.

Anyways, I wish him thr best of luck and hope he, Hudson and Winovich do great and make it to the NFL. Make WPIAL football great again!

Jeter, a four-star defensive end prospect, showed positive signs of progress during spring ball and had hoped to carry it over into the fall. He is eligible for a full redshirt seasonand will have four years of eligibility remaining.

sucks, we could have used him bigtime. if he was getting looks on that defense, as a true freshman, that's impressive. I am not rooting for or against him since he went to michigan. I'd say I don't care but im in this thread so that's not true.. At least he had the common courtesy to not go to wvu or psu

I follow college football as a whole. I don't limit my rooting interest to just Pitt. There's too much good football out there to be so narrow minded.

I also love my area and root for everybody from my area to be successful. Pitt is not for everybody, i understand and accept that.

to each his own.....I don't wish anything physically bad on them but I'm not rooting for them in anyway and would prefer to see them end up like pinky johnson and running dances or whatever it is he does in the area instead of having success in the NFL.

You're obviously a better man than I am Sarge. While I don't wish any ill on the players that don't choose Pitt, I certainly don't follow them.

I'd rather root for the kids from Florida who chose to attend Pitt than the locals who do not...

Out of curiosity, what if your son or daughter said they didn't want to go to Pitt?

I guess i'm just a little different. I don't see it as some type of loyalty burn against Pitt or the city. I think it's great when they do stay at home and rep the city and think we could have a championship team with a wpial all star team, but I don't find it a requirement for me to root for a kid's success.

so you root for a player who goes to a school that you don't care about, just because he lives in western pa? I find that odd.. I could possibly see your high school or hometown but the whole western PA area?

I'm 100 percent positive my daughter won't play college football, and 99.9 percent positive my sons won't either unless they take steroids without my knowledge and gain like 200 lbs. , so I don't think I'll need to worry about them playing football anywhere.

Yes I do. Just the same as I root for Cuban as a person ans also the Mavs. Neil Walker as a Met, Jim Kelly was always a favorite of mine. I have a lot of WPIAL pride. I love my area and wish to promote my area.

This is how I feel with 2 exceptions. If they go to PSU then I couldn't care less how they do, or if they openly talk crap about Pitt. Nick Marmo for me was very easy to root against since he filled both categories.

Agree if they talk shit on Pitt or the area.
I don't root for the schools, I root for the kids. UM, PSU, WVU, Maryland etc can go 0-12, but I hope the WPIAL kids put up great stats and go to the NFL to rep the area.

Pitt has had as many "big time" players as any "big time" school. But I get what he is saying. It just came out of his face in a big mess.
